***The iOS 5 Thread***

Looks like its bricked my phone.
Its totally stuck in a loop, get the apple logo, followed by a black screen with just a spinning circle, then back to the apple logo, keeps looping like this.
Cant put it into recovery or DFU mode.
PC doesnt reconise it either.

Looks like a call to Apple tomorrow for a replacement.

well this has to be the most painful update to date.

All other updates have gone on fine in the past but this one just keeps failing to restore 5th time lucky and it seems to be finally restoring. I'm guessing this is just failing when it is trying to contact apple as I bet their server's are getting hammered. Would be interesting to know how may requests they are serving up at the moment.

A failed update to new IOS is not the same as the phone can't receive calls, check emails and go online lol

It is when it renders your phone to be useless, which mine now is as it won't backup/restore/do anything

OMFG it seems to be installing the update, the progress bar under the apple is slowly filling! Im not getting my hopes up too much yet though...

Ok I've tried on my iPad 2 and it worked second time. I have done a restore and my apps just need to be put back on and the photos transferred back.

I will still wait till weekend as I said before for iPhone 3GS.

I must've been one of the lucky ones - i also cant believe the mass amount of people having troubles.

Downloaded in 2 mins, installed in 20~ then another 20~ to install all applications and sync to icloud.

Seems pretty good so far :)
Ditto for me, if I had read this thread first I'd have probably waited.

Sim Card inserted in this iPhone does not appear to be supported?!?!?!?! anyone else has this problem? I;'ve restarted and rebooted to the ends of the earth.

This is after I updated the phone with IOS5.

For those who are experiencing problems, I backed up my phone then restored from that backup, then I was able to perform the upgrade, might be worth a try although the likelihood is that it was down to traffic

Take the sim out and make the contacts are clean is all i can suggest.

Bloody hell, this is a clown town update on this end. Spent like an eternity downloading the OSX updates. Then had to install the latest iTunes build, except the website took ages to provide a download link.

Now I'm stuck in the 3200 loop.
