** The iOS10 thread **

Excellent. I don't know why they turned this off, rest finger to open is really useful.

I prefer to click home button first then rest finger on touch ID to open.

The other good feature is the raise to open phone screen, basically raise the phone and screen lights up, so just resting finger on touch ID without the need of clicking.

I personally turned that off as well as I don't want my screen automatically turning on when I raise the phone, despite it being useful.

The memories part of the Photos app is really good. A lot of things have changed for me in the past 3 months and the little video it's made was a really good way to go back over it.

It's also created one of a road trip around the US I did 4 years ago. It's reminded me that I was living it up in a huge suite in Vegas this time in 2012. I'd love to do it all again.

The Home app is pretty good too. I'm getting a load of stuff automated in the house so the next 12 months will be interesting now that Apple are actually moving forward with all the Homekit stuff.

Memories is so cool!

It's making me reminisce over some things I'd completely forgotten about.

It's also quite funny though when it randomly throws in weird photo's I took that are really banal and boring. Or it throws in some random social media pics from group What'sApp conversations along with the photos I actually took on the phone :D

What have they done to threads in mail? Finding it virtually unusable now with my work email as long email chains get mixed up, half quoted...it's terrible! Had to disable it which I also don't like....why couldnt we just keep the old style :(

Just done the update and am having a play around, liking it for the most part.

However, how do you not show icloud music? The iTunes account is shared by a couple of family members and i would rather not have their choices of music clogging up my library. Oh and I have tried to set it to the downloaded only option in the player but that is a) missing 2/3 of the music that is stored on the device and b) won't seem to let try to order in any other way than by most recent purchase.

Seems like there isn't a way which is a terrible decision. I ended up downloading Cesium which is keeping me happy for now, it also has a dark theme which is a bonus.

There isn't actually anything about iOS10 that makes me think 'wow'. If I had to go back to 9 I wouldn't mind at all. There's something that really bugs me and I can't remember what it is. I was driving to work this morning thinking I should post it in this thread but now it's escaped me. Damn hot girl talking to me in the kitchen!

Yeah, after a bit to googling around last night I came to a similar conclusion in needing to find a 3rd party music player. Is Cesium any good?

Seems a bit buggy so far, especially in YouTube, with videos getting stuck in full screen and not closing.

Also hate hate hate the new way to unlock on devices without a fingerprint sensor. Pressing the home button twice and then moving my finger to the screen to enter my unlock code is so less intuitive than swiping to unlock and then typing my code in the same place.

All the new lock screen and notification features are just junk as far as I'm concerned, as I'll never use them.

Battery performance seems a little worse on my SE.

I think its not helped by the messages app using 50% background usage.

Seems a wide spread problem, surely thats not normal. Has anyone else checked how much battery iMessage is using?

Also does anyone find some back buttons in messages dont respond when tapping them and a few buttons in music app, it takes about 10 presses or so until a button responds sometimes.

I really wouldn't worry about it, it's not a big overhaul.

Yeh it took about 45 mins to download then another 20 or so minutes to install.

So far quite liking it, been playing around with it for a good few hrs on my iPhone 6s.

Like the raise screen option to quickly glance at any notifications. Also liking the new messaging options i.e. Handwriting messages etc.

Photo app is pretty cool as well.

Only issue I'm having is when posting a reply in the forum, pre iOS 10 the screen would follow the cursor but now it doesn't. I have to pinch the screen pretty far out as in make it small so I can see what I'm writing.

Not sure why it's happening as it was fine before the iOS update.

Haha yeah. I spent a couple of hours deleting the random crap that I'd screenshotted, etc. I must have recreated the memories video about 20 times. :D

No battery issues on my iPad Pro, however I have had a few instances where button presses don't seem to do anything. The icon registers that it's been pressed (i.e. it briefly fades out) but nothing happens. Main one I've noticed it with is the > icon in iMessage (which 'should' then reveal the Photo / Digital Touch / AppStore icons).

I turned it off, but then went to use Apple Pay, and the phone unlocked rather than respond to Apple Pay. The action of lifting it up with a finger on the button was enough. In the past of course you had to press some sort of button to wake the phone.

Not sure how this should work?
