** The iOS10 thread **

IOS 10 has ruined my battery life, I've not got anywhere near empty for months and have managed it 4 times in the last 7 days.

Probably just needs time to "settle down". A few of my friends were complaining of the same, but now they've said it's returned to normal.

I'd assume it's still doing stuff (syncing/"optimising") in the background... although a week does seem like plenty of time.... Maybe try a fresh wipe?

Ah yeah, sorry. Just tried it myself. What a ******* misleading title

Yep, loads of articles with that procedure and they all seem to barely mention that it disables the camera completely.

Seriously can't believe Apple have left no way to disable the camera from the lock screen.

Urgh, I just wanted to check if a certain bug had been fixed in Notes.... but Notes is now crashing 2 seconds after loading it...

Rebooted my iPad and no difference... Joy!

If it continues I may go down that path.

Anyone noticed anything strange with the signal strength since iOS10? Did Apple change the way the meter is calculated?

It's just that I used to get 5 bars of 4G on EE where I live and work (London) but since iOS10 I've not seen it go above 4 bars anywhere and at work it's sat at 2 and falling back to 3G regularly.

I've tried a Network Reset and Carrier Update but no change. Anyone else?

Well after a few days of usage, I can confidently say that my battery life is quite a bit worse. I used to go to bed with around 30-40% left, now it's pretty consistently below 20%.

This is a weird problem for some it seems.

When I updated last weekend, the first 2-3 days my battery was worse, draining a lot quicker.
One thing I noticed was the messages app was using almost 60% background usage!!

That could not of been helping. Read a few posts that said the messages app was doing some sort of cataloging with other apps such as the photos app.
Weather that was true or not, Im not sure, but iMessage usage has cleared from my battery usage page altogether now.

And since then my battery has been just as great as it was before ios10.

Im on a iPhone SE.

When I first updated I made sure I done a few full charges and powered off/on the iPhone.

Ive also turned off a few things I don't use including:

Siri OFF
Raise to unlock (new feature in iOS 10) OFF
Reply to message (new feature on lock screen) OFF
Bluetooth (only ON when I need it)

Do you run same set of widgets in today view? Having more widgets with background activity enabled could cause a decrease. Like the map destinations and such. Worth a try disabling some?
