The iOS11 Thread

Unless the new iPhone they release is truly groundbreaking, this new iOS 11 (and past few years of iPhone) have been nothing short of disappointing. This new iOS seems to have introduced very little, with some cosmetic quirks and pointless features. Also iOS 10 was riddled with glitches (keyboard glitch on iPad pro, occasional display glitches observed on multiple devices in our household etc) and also bugs in Mac OS that never seem to be fixed, yet MS get absolutely pasted when it takes them weeks to fix something, whilst Apple seem to just ignore things.

Really tempted to move my primary devices back to Android / PC the way things are going.

This is a good thing, when there are too many change people cry cry and cry more. This way small change means people get used to things over a period of time causing stabilisation. Stop been so negative.

You certainly can't say there hasn't been any changes.

There has been very little innovation for a few years and the vast majority of changes are not worthy of a major release in my opinion. The iPhone 8 better be a innovative phone (rather than catching up on hardware/features others have offered for ages)

There's not really innovation in any industry these days, look at the latest version of pretty much any OS, Windows, Android, Mac OS, iOS. They are mostly just tweaks and small changes, we're at a point where most OS's are feature complete, there isn't a massive amount they can do.

The same goes for phones, tablets and most other hardware to be honest.

PB 8 has ruined my 4G connectivity. Half the time even though the phone shows full bars on 4G, I get no data connection.

SMS/Phone calls still work fine...

Developer beta 10 has been released yesterday, not GM. But they have fixed the rotation bug on the iPad Pro. I reckon we will have the GM on the keynote day, and iOS 11 will roll shortly after!

It's really annoying on the iPad how they switched the Safari video playback slider to the bottom of the screen. I find it far easier at the top.

Totally agree - I only have the developer beta on my iPhone, so don't know how bad it is on the iPad, but the whole video player interface for the iPhone is really bad :(

I remember a few betas back, the intrusive volume setting window was removed, but it's been back for last few betas and it's still terrible :p

I seem to remember being able to get the GM when it's released by installing a profile on previous iOS versions. Anyone got a link to a profile I can install ahead so I'm ready for Tuesday?

It's stupid. I like to have the iPad on my chest if laying down and use one hand to hold the top of it, used to be able to just use that hand to swipe the video slider, now I have to use the other.

When the GM is released, you won't need any special profile - The past GMs have been identical to the public release the week after.

However, you can install the developer beta 10 if you download the dev profile which is knocking around the internet.

In the past, I'm sure I've added a dev profile and installed the GM as soon as it became available ahead of the public release. I don't want to use any of the betas (dev or public), just to get my hands on the GM as soon as it's out there.
