I'm getting my iPad at the end of the week. As it'll be my first ever Apple device, I'm thinking I should go straight for the beta. No point getting used to iOS 10 for a few weeks before moving to 11, right?

If it's your first Apple device I'd use it as intended rather than messing about with the Beta.

I got my iPad played about on it stock for an hour or 2 and stuck the iOS 11 beta on, so much nicer and glad I didn't stick with 10.
11 works much more how I'd want a tablet to.

I've been using iOS11 as my daily driver, no issues.

Jumping on the Beta doesn't affect warranty does it?

Installed the public beta here. Not too much of a difference. I’m noticing a little bit of lag here and there on my 7 plus but other than that it works fine.

Why can't I just have a legit dark mode... Smart Invert is 80% there, but it inverts FaceBook photos still...

I think iOS PB 8 will be good to go now, probably the last before the GM. I'm going to install shortly fresh installs on all iDevices with latest versions.

I'm not convinced yet. iPad mini 4 here and it's still crashing all over the place with public beta 7. Even basic apps like the Photos app crashed on me yesterday when I was cropping some pics.
