*** The iPad Air thread ***

Does anyone use the air for reading, if so how is the experience. Torn between the Air and rMini, and I'm thinking of getting the Air since its a bit bigger size for much bigger the screen.
 
just upgraded from an iPad2 to the air and loving it :D soooo fast and smooth
using a casebuddy suede and leather case at the mo but need to get a good strong screen protector as I had to change the iPad2's screen and don't fancy going through all that again

any recommendations ?
 
Getting fed up with Safari crashing and shutting down. Yesterday I had 2 tabs open, OCUK I think and cisco support forum... It crashed like 4 times in a way when on the cisco tab... ridiculous.
 
Ordered one of these earlier in the week, should be here next week. Any recommendations for screen protectors, or a back case? Just ordered a Smart Cover for now. Otherwise might just get a sleeve to put it in when popping it into my bag or something!

Anything 'must have' in terms of apps? On my iPad 1 I still use VLC, is there anything similar for watching .avi, mp4 etc offline?
 
You can still download VLC as it will be in your account, they may also have relaunched it but it doesn't matter if they didn't, you can get your old apps.

I am also surprised with the amount of crash to tablettop that is occurring with our ipad air, even browsing the same things as on an ipad 2. I don't see why this should be happening, they are both on the same OS.

OcUK, Outlook and any other tab, even just the first two on occasion, continual memory refreshes, and CTT several times per browsing session. Is there a way to check on an ipad Air which background programs might be eating memory, or are running in the background incorrectly suspended?

There is certain something, very wrong.
 
Did not think I would get it but I just won on the bay a brand new (unopened) Apple iPad Air 32GB, Wi-Fi + cellular unlocked in space grey for £475.

Did I do well?

I've finally ordered an iPad Air for the missus as a christmas present which is due for delivery today, however I'm wondering if I've opted for the wrong size, the 16gb. For people who have the 16gb what is the consensus on how far that memory will stretch when theres a few apps and the like installed on it?

I doubt it will be used to watch films and as for music I'll either get a Spotify sub or an iTunes match sub so its only real use will be internet, email and a few apps.

You may need to micromanage as more apps interest you, espeically games like XCOM and knights of the old republic which are 2-3gb but for the smaller apps it should be enough. Cloud services can deal with photos and if you really want to store HD movies whilst travelling then you can always pick up a wireless storage drive and transmit the content by WiFi although this is isn't as convenient but is a good workaround.
 
I went to buy an air few days ago but whilst checking my regular sites on the instore model one of them I use for all the ufc fights wasnt working?

No idea why??

could someone with an air test the link and let me know if it works at all for you. On pc it plays in there default player and on gs3 phone it redirects and plays in youtube. ipad just bugs out.

I wish you to perform two tsts for me, and tell me if they cause you ipad air to lock up or crash.

First one tab open in safari.
Ocuk.
Browse ti tne random gif thread.
Scroll down to the obama fif where the guy makes a dog iut of a balloon.
Turn your ipad sidewards, on its side from being upright, do the screen rotate, or does the ipad crap itself and sit looking at you for ages until you press the hom button to escape safari?
Renetering safari makes it work like normal.


Then second browse ti ten west jet airline thread, open the link, start the video, try to move forwrad and backwards in the video.
Does the ipad lock up.

Ios7 fully up to date.

Pls try report results.
Wondering if my ipad is borked.

Are there many issues with the iPad air? I do see lots of people talking about crashes and lots of people saying there display/screen has a yellowish tint to it along with bad backlight bleeding.

I know I find fault with pretty much everything but I am curious to know. :p
