*** The iPhone 3G Thread ***

Im planning on getting my iphone tomorrow, im deciding to go with the £45 a month tariff to get the 8GB phone free, my plan is to wait till i can downgrade to the 35 a month tariff, so rather than wasting £100 on buying the iphone, i spend £10 extra a month and get more minutes and texts for practically nothing.

I am right in thinking you can do this on a iphone tariff right?

"my plan is to wait till i can downgrade to the 35 a month tariff"

I did this last time round with the original iPhone, i plan on doing this again.
How long is it until you can downgrade your call plan with o2, as last time i did this i was probably into my 4th/5th month - would it be sooner ie 3 months?

It's shame there's no proper tether with cable or bluetooth.. then i'd be able to use my free iphone wifi on my laptop if i'm out and about with it :)

The girl in the o2 store told me it was 9 months

can someone explain how parlingo works?

I installed it and signed but i don't see any msn contacts or the like, do i have to add them all manually?

Argh, so annoying I'm on O2 and trying to change to an iphone. I went into carphone warehouse and went through the whole process only to get rejected at the last stage because I'm an O2 online customer or something so they can't upgrade me. I really want to keep my number so had to leave that. They said I needed to phone up. I just did that and they tell me they can't do it either and I need to go into an O2 store or carphone warehouse (har har) and told me it should have worked there.

The only problem is my local O2 store is closed for refurbishment:mad:

Looks like no iPhone for me in a hurry :(

For anyone who got theirs from CPW (or anyone who can answer). I'm pretty tempted to order the iPhone as i see they have all models in Stock right now online. I just wondered how you selected your Bolt On option? Is it part of the Activation process or something you can change on the o2 website? (I'm currently T-Mobile, so dunno how o2's site works) :o

You can ring O2 at any time and add a bolt on. I took out the £35 contract with a view to add the text bolt on if needed.

Snap. If i really need it I can have the bolt-on. I just wish they had either a talker or a texter option for the iphone. I'd rather have 400mins and 1000 texts for £35 a month rather than 600mins and 500 texts. Alas.

fantastic app this, best iv tried on the iPhone up to now, works with my MSN and Yahoo account, the ability to send pics from your camera as well as messages to your friends is also pretty clever.

The lack of including groups on your msn list or simply being able to identify a contact via it's email adress is a criminal oversignt IMO. I have multiple people with simple names such as 'Darren' or 'John'. Most of them are in seperate groups anyway, so I can identify who is who, via the group they are in. If groups aren't available then simply being able to identify someone by their email adress would be nice...

I'm tempted to jailbreak just for Apollo IM. Once we have a decent IM client on the App store I'd probably come back to being 'legit'.
