*** The iPhone 3G Thread ***

it's not a bad deal for £99 on the £30/mth plan for unlimited data/wi-fi, tempting but i'd be gutted if a super phone comes out in the next 6mths and blows the 3g out of the water.

But why? I really don't get this mentality.. It's technology, and it improves quickly.. If something is released in 6 months that blows the iPhone out of the water, a) you've already had 6 months use of a phone superior to anything else, and b) the next iPhone will probably be released in 6 months from that point, which could blow that device out of the water. Unless there is something right around the corner ide just buy now and be happy!

Plus the £30 a month plan is a waste of time.. May aswell pay the extra £5 when you see how much more you get.

You're right about the £30 plan being useless, however there is some merit to buying "at the right time" because you're tied into a 18-month contract which you would have to buy out if you wanted to get a new phone early.

Got my iphone with the 30/pm tariff, but paying for an unlimited text bolt on since I rarely ring. £37.50 is reasonable for what I get imo..

Also if a new iphone comes out then o2 will presumably let people upgrade to that anyway.. I took insurance with carphone warehouse too (Bit of a rip off) which lets me cancel my contract in 9 months and take a new phone if i want :)

Didn't they do a deal for upgraders from the old iPhone? The length of the contract doesn't bother me just because of that.

Yeah, but only because they had paid the full cost of the phone initially. We haven't done, so I doubt it will be available for the next iPhone.
