*** The iPhone 3G Thread ***

Can you not post here, you need to post in the WWDC thread in the Apple forum about the iPhone v2 now.

I'm gonna see what the pricing is like on O2, my contract is actually due for upgrade now. So will probs sell my 8gb touch and get the 16gb iPhone.

cheers stinky.

Can someone confirm my dilemma quickly - I'm on a o2 contract, but I don't have the internet bolt on. Will I be able to use the gps/map for free or will I have a huge bill?

you know as much as us tbh mate.

im sure there will be more made clear tomo when o2 release prices, and also closer to the 11th we will find out a lot more

This is the mobile phone subforum, technically it should go in here.

That thread is regarding the WWDC related. This one is for the iPhone SPECIFICALLY.

"shush" ;)

(yes I agree with you, it's pathetic that you can't talk about iphones in a mobile phone forum)

Why? Does it actually say there that you can only talk about them in there? If so, fair enough. Could a don shed some light on this. Bit stupid that you can't talk about the iPhone in here, I know it is Apple hardware, but it is a phone after all.

All iPhone threads got moved to the Mac hardware forum, which was then renamed to the Apple hardware forum to try and make it look a bit less silly, now the iPhone thread there is locked and everyone must post in the WWDC thread about the iPhone v2. If you say anything you are told to 'shush' by the 'Underboss' that seems to have decided all this. :)

Typical, lol.

*mooches off to Apple subforum*

On the one hand this looks like an amazing phone that has just about everything I want in, on the other it seems the only way to buy it is on an O2 contract, and that really sucks.

I wouldn't say so. It may just be the actual price!

Everywhere I'm reading says that the phone is now contract only in the US, on the apple uk store site it mentions the new 3g iphone but when you click on where to buy it just points you to O2 and CPW web sites. Given the new stuff I can't see how they could afford to cut the price so much without letting the networks subsidise.

that iPhone only in the apple forum is utterly ridiculous, its a PHONE. The clue is in the name.

Sounds like there's someone been drinking too much red bull in there LOL

apparently 2mm shorter and a whole 0.5mm (woohh :)) thinner.

Impressive, especially with extra functionality and battery power.

So, looks like the same prices are available to people who bought the old iPhone and who want to upgrade. That's rather nice.
If one buys a Nokia and wants to upgrade after 6 months you can go take a running jump.

Prices for 8GB iPhone
If you are on £35 contract:
New iPhone = £99

If you are on £45 or £75 contract:
New iPhone = £0

I think I might change both of mine then as I'll get one for free.

free on £45.. that sticks it bang in N95 8GB territory and given it has the 8GB, 3G and GPS now its only the camera that its lacking which to a lot of people (myself included) means nothing, I just don't do photos..

I can expect we'll see these things explode now and be everywhere.

However that said its still only o2 which is a bit of a pain... now they've moved to a subsidy model I don't see why it has to be network exclusive for any reason other than vanity for the network.
