The last game you completed, and rating (Console Edition)

Stellar Blade.. Great game, loved it... So much so that i am currently on my second play through. Missed loads on the original run through as it was a lot tougher, didnt even do any of the fishing.

Love the game, the aesthetic, the style and EVE... ;)

Days Gone PS5 - 8/10

Picked up days gone on PS+ a few years ago but only just got round to playing it. Really impressed and wish I'd played it sooner. Solid if predictable story with some memorable, well developed characters but really satisfying gameplay. I particularly liked the focus on hordes rather than traditional boss fights which led to some proper frantic fights legging it around being chased by literally hundreds of enemies. The travel system was also really well done, and since its such a pretty game I enjoyed just riding from location to location rather than fast travel. 3rd act dragged a bit and felt a bit unnecessary but I think they were setting it up for a sequel which will sadly never come.

Finished the main campaign of Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora on the PS5 and I absolutely loved it. I am a fan of the franchise and the Ubisoft FarCry games in general so yeah that was heaven for me. Brilliant campaign/story and a stunning looking and sounding game. 9/10. I’d give it a 10 but can’t quite bring myself to go that far. Will keep playing to mop up some stuff and I’ll pick up the DLC when on discount.

I started this over Christmas but only got a few missions in before moving onto other things. I bought myself a haul of new games and it was a case of too many sweets in the sweet shop. I started Baldur’s Gate 3 and that was the end of everything else for over 2 months! :p

Need to go back to Avatar as I’m a fan of the franchise also. Now I’ve done the Elden Ring DLC I’m at a loose end. Part way through Plague Tale Requiem currently but Avatar needs to be done before Christmas!

Control on the PS5. 8/10. Became samey towards the end but the maze sequence was brilliant.
Steamworld Heist II on the Switch. 9/10. I’m a huge fan of the SteamWorld series and it was great to get stuck in again. It’s much bigger than the first but I was hooked and finished it in a few days!

Metroid Prime on Gamecube.

9/10. An Absolute joy to play 20 years later. I would have given it a 10 if it wasn't for the final boss section which was very annoying.

A plague tale: requiem. 7.5 out of 10.

Enjoyed this but I felt it didn’t really do enough gameplay wise. Much of the upgrade mechanics were pointless in my view. Similarly the adaptive skill unlocks just passed by with no real noticeable impact.

Story was great and the relationship between Hugo an Amicia was endearing. Indeed the story and cool locations were the only thing that kept me playing really. The progress felt very formulaic with repetition of “sneak through this bit” sections interspersed with cut scenes and “run away with annoying reverse camera angles” bits. Oh and slow walking bits that were sometimes just too long. Initially pushing and pulling trolleys had me raging! lol. But then I figured out they are geared on the camera stick not the movement stick. A bit like the driving in Halo games. Life was much better once I realised that! :p

It took me 25hrs and the end had me feeling very sad in terms of the story. I have no appetite to play new game plus mode though.

Overall a solid and enjoyable story with good voice acting and characters. But as a game I can’t help but feel that it was a missed opportunity somehow.

Astro Bot - 5/5

Up their with the best games I've played on PS and one of the best ever.

The graphical style, music and sound are all top notch, the length of the game is just about perfect and offers some challenging yet rewarding levels and the gameplay mechanics make every level feel fresh.

Just buy it if you're on the fence and get on the fence and buy it if you're not.

Fallout 4 - 9/10

Absolutely incredible game and for open world titles there is still nothing like it that gives you so much freeform chaos. Unlikess you cound Skyrim. The RPG aspect, that being dialogue interactions if you look at the older games is poorer but the world around you and the colossal attention to detail in the way it has been designed is top notch. Everywhere you look there is a story or something that had been going on when the bombs fell, backed up by holotapes if you can find them.

The main story sucks but you can ignore it from the get go and just explore and explore. I played this at launch and loved it but ignored the settlements as it was a very rough feature. This time round I dived right in and it is horribly addictive literally building up each settlement to armed to the teeth along with its settlers. With the new patch update the game has its own native PS5 client and runs absolutely superbly. Visuals are great, stability is solid and 1440@60 is smooth and consistent.

After 630hrs into Fallout 4, which began months ago I think I'm at the point where I have mostly nothing left to 'do'. I am Lv197 with not much to 'do' so its time to call it a day!

Edit: posted that in the wrong thread!

I have recently finished up the achievement side of Brotato, absolutely loved it, I hope there is some DLC released at some point :)

Just finished Still Wakes the Deep was an unexpected hit with me. I just tried it wondering what it was and played it al the way through. 7/10.
Also just finished this. Very interesting story and a few little jumps here and there. Definitely worth a play though, especially if you've got Gamepass. I'll go 8/10

Astro Bot - 8.5/10

A very fun game oozing with creativity. For the most part, a chill & relaxing experience, but I do think some people ( myself included ) will find the "challenge" levels somewhat frustating and out of place. One other small nitpick : although the game makes good use of the dualsense haptics, I think Astro Bot's Playroom does it better.

ps. If I wasn't able to complete the end game secret level I would have knocked off a further point ;)

Astro Bot - 9/10

Enjoyed this a hell of a lot. I would give it a 10 if there were more levels where you played as something other than Astro Bot himself - like in Astro's Playroom with the little spaceship thing etc.

On the whole though it was brilliant and is my GOTY so far.
