Star Wars: Jedi Order - 8/10

Thoroughly enjoyed this as a star wars fan. Story and atmosphere were spot on! Only niggles were the level design, absolutely huge. To fully explore each world took anywhere from 60-90 mins which got abit long in the tooth in the end.

Gripe about the ending:
spent 16 hours finding the holocron which is the key to the entire game just for Cal to destroy it and say they dont need it in the end...meh

Days Gone - 9/10

Second go at getting into this game (tried to play on PS4 but it was stuttering) - well worth it and was hooked after a few hours. Story was great 38H and the horde mechanic is mad. Currently trying to 100% everything. One bit of advice is to have a go at the challenges before playing the game too much as the power ups you can unlock work in the campaign.

A Plague Tale: Requiem 9/10

Ooooh what a stunning game. Really engrossing story, absolutely beautiful graphics and just an amazing adventure.

That ending... :O

Treied my best but got bored and uninstalled. Great graphics though.

The Last Of Us 10/10

Wow in so many ways.

Graphics are top drawer, I wasn't even running max settings and it still looked amazing, from the vegetation to old wallpaper, to the rusting cars that all look different from each other, differing seasons, water effects-it just looks incredible from top to bottom.

After waiting years for this and playing it after watching it, knowing the storyline, playing the characters I watched had me sucked in all the way through, I'm in the show now.

But there's more to the game than the show, some moments are breathtakingly good, for something totally unexpected happens that wasn't in the show, then that's a winner, I haven't had a grin on my face like that since I don't know when, helped by the fantastic game design and attention to detail with just the right amount of pace to keep you going, it sucks you in and plays on your emotions from start to finish.

Don't know what I'm going to do if they release the 2nd one before the TV show as I enjoyed watching it with the missus, but the game was so good, so I'll cross that one when it comes.

I would have taken a point off for not being able to find/pick up a Rambo knife in a desolated world, but when it's this good, it's got to be a 10/10.

Outlast 9/10 amazingly disturbing horror game, the whistleblower dlc took the violence to the next level maybe a bit too much.

Shadow warrior 2 8/10
pretty good looter shooter.

Wasn't it a game first before it was a show? I'm assuming this is a remake - is it based on the show or the original game?

One of my major gripes with TLOU (original game) was the button-mashing QTEs. Hope they at least got rid of those :p

Star Wars Jedi: Survivor - 7.5/10

I finished this one just now. I won't go into performance as it's well known and though I don't condone releasing a game in this state I'm going to stick to the game itself.

For the most part I enjoyed my time with it. The combat was fun and I appreciated having more of it in this game. I mostly stuck to my trusted single blade and an over reliance on lift + push to get myself through some of the more difficult encounters. I played on Jedi Knight difficulty which I felt it struck a good balance for me.

The story and characters were interesting enough though it's certainly no KOTOR. The further I got the more I wished for a KOTOR remake or a third game in the series. It was enough to pull me through however and I'll make the most with what we have here.

Gameplay wise this was a solid effort I felt. The platforming was better hidden in with the environment which was a major gripe with me from the first game. I did however feel like there was far too much of it, to the point where I wonder if it was used as padding in replacement of open world busy work.

All in all I thought it was pretty good. Certainly the best Star Wars game we've had in a while.

Dead Space Remake - 8.5/10

Very solid remake I didn't know I wanted. Graphically makes the game look the part, Isaac speaking adds a lot to the story immersion and some gameplay tweaks are very welcome. Sometimes, rarely, EA actually does something good and this is one of those somethings.

The Last of Us Part 1 8/10

Great story, voice acting and character animation but the gameplay is pretty dated (compared with say, RE:4) and Joel lumbers around like he's morbidly obese. Visuals are also a little off (animation aside) - there's a wealth of detail but everything looks a bit 'flat' - I think this is largely down to the palette and last-gen lighting techniques.

Performance (even with the latest patches) is still mediocre - if you're on the fence I'd say give it another 6 months and buy it heavily discounted.

Vampire Survivors: 7/10

Not a genre i usually go for, but it's reasonably good fun, i just wish the unlocks, secrets and things to do beside upgrade and kill stuff over and over was a bit more imaginative. You reach a point where you've found a few easy setups, buy a few upgrades at the start and choice pick a few cards, and everything becomes a mindless run where you're engaged for the first 10 minutes and afking the remainder.

It's still fun to a point, and a 7 from me is good going (i'm a fussy old fart).

And below a side comment(obviously didn't complete)
Breathedge: 5/10 (it looks like there's some good stuff there and like it's up my street)

Really tried and wanted to like it (was free on epic, and had wanted to try it anyway), but i couldn't get further in that a few hours because there's this annoying barrier to enjoying the exploration and discovery with having such a miniscule oxygen supply. I've played through Raft and Subnautica, and those can be annoying with their replenishment/resource systems, but not to the level Breathedge is, it was limiting to the point of frustration(if a mod existed to tweak this setting i'd play it more). I started the game a good dozen times with the intention of overcoming and trying to work through it, but it ultimately touched on the bitter end of my patience. Still gave it a 5 because i believe there's a good game sat behind a barrier to entry i'm not willing to frustrate my way through, i know this get's more manageable later, but i'm not holding out for a trickle amounts of additional relief.

Resident Evil 4 Remake

I started this when it came out but for whatever reason i hadnt played past the first two chapters, its all ive played this week and was the most fun game ive played this year.

9/10 Just a brilliant game.
I think the most remarkable thing about RE4, both the original and the remake, is that it never forgets that it's actually a game! Another reviewer made the same comment and whilst on the surface, you could say of course it's a game, but so many games now try to pretend that they're not and lose a lot of fun by doing so.

Yeah fully agree, it had a great story, the puzzles were all logical and didnt require online guides to work out, the only time i had to check was when i got the bio scanner but hadnt fully read the hint to equip it. It also looks completely fantastic, ran like a dream at 4k
