Lost Odyssey - 9/10

Absolutely fantastic game, spent the last few months of last year chipping away at weekends to get 100%. In the end it was a 75 hour time spend that I don't regret one bit!

EDIT: Realised I posted a console game in the PC thread lol :p

Both Subnautica's, 9/10 - 7/10 respectively... really loved the seascape, building habitats, hunting for items and generally trying not to drown without having to go in all guns blazing.... as there were none.
Shame they nerfed the scary monsters of the deep in the second though, it was too easy.

Still counts, that's the glory of PC, emulators :D Also, great game.

For that price yes ! But if you not 100% sure about it, have a look on youtube/twitch to get a feel of the game and if it is to your liking. If you already know it is, then buy it ! :p

Even worth it at full price. Great game and awesome graphics, esoeif you have a proper HDR monitor.

Returnal - 7.5/10

It's challenging and you get a great sense of satisfaction from beating the bosses but the payoff (for me) in terms of story wasn't worth the time invested. There's an additional ending if you finish the game twice but I couldn't be assed to go through it again for some extra fluff and watched it online instead. There the bones of a truly great game there but I think Housemarque blew it with the balancing and it feels like a game that has zero respect for the player's time. Pretty good PC port though.

Hogwarts Legacy - 6/10

I've finished the main story and a lot of the side content. I enjoyed the exploration and the world itself is beautifully crafted and as a fan of the movies that's definitely what draws me in but, after a while that does fade away and for me the game felt a little hollow.

The story was mostly forgettable with very basic good or bad choices and I often found it difficult to reconcile murdering hundreds of poachers, dark wizards and goblins and then going to class 10 minutes later. The combat though entertaining was let down by fiddly spell swapping.

A solid attempt but with a story I didn't care for and your standard open world trappings I don't think I would have bothered with the game if it wasn't for it's setting.

last night completed the 1st legend of vanhelsing.
on one hand I enjoyed playing it coop with a mate.

on the other hand it was janky as sin, crashed multiple times every session and was pretty much inferior in everyway to titan quest and diablo.

it's a run of the mill 6/10 from me.

Just finished Diablo 3 bought it on release played to about half way then the altaholic in me surfaced and played 2-3 othe classes to about half way then never touched it again. picked it up again and finished it in the last week.

A solid 9/10 from me great game as has been the case for the previous iterations.

Atomic Heart - 8/10

Art style and gun play 9/10

story - 7/10

really enjoyed the game - gave me BioShock vibes but had no idea what was going on for the first 4 hours.
Just completed this a couple of days ago too. I thought it was fantastic! One of the best and most surprising games ive played in a while actually. Once getting used to the mechanics the combat was very fluid and after some weapon upgrades things felt more balanced.

Graphics and style were top notch too, loved the robots and the speed of all the animations, really detailed.

Only issue was getting stuck in the environment a few times and had to reload which got a bit frustrating if i hadnt recently saved. The main characters comments were a bit annoying after a while as others have said too.

8.5/10

Resident evil 4 remake

Not scary enough for me, but it's good story, great environments and art style, funny endearing characters and fantastic gameplay make it one of the best in the series. An easy 10/10 from me

I felt disappointed as well. The game started out exciting but then half way through exploration was boring, combat became stale and I was just skipping cutscenes because apart from one side quest everything else in the story felt super boring to me

I enjoyed it but I also felt the story is boring, time it takes to finish a level is too long in a game you can't save while the first two bosses feel very challenging, the rest of bosses felt too easy especially the 2nd half of the game

Elden Ring 9/10

Man, oh man this is a really strange one for me. Bloody game took me over a year to finish and well in excess of 100 hours. Played the first 20 or so hours not knowing what the hell I was doing (1st Fromsoft game), got frustrated at the difficulty and gave up for a bit. Did some research and came back as a battlemage and a bit more of an understanding of the game and levelling up. Eventually re-speced to a full on melee build. Got through most of the game like that. Smashed my head against the wall quite a few times over that Melakith(sp?) dude. Couldn't for the life of me get past the last 3 bosses so resorted to using online help. Don't regret that one bit, glad to see the back of the stupid game. Saying that though, the game is just phenominal in every way. I just don't see myself playing another game like it though - ever..too many games to play and not enough time to play them (I'm 'old').

Guardians of the Galaxy 2/10

What a pile of crap. Seriously, whoever thinks this game is 'good' needs a massive slap. Graphics are pretty nice but gameplay is truly AWFUL. Clunky, buggy, getting stuck in environments, restrictive movement/control, really basic gameplay mechanics which repeat every chapter, crashes to desktop. Wouldn't even let me skip the final credits, forcing me to force close it. Worst game I've played in years.

Hogwarts Legacy 7.5/10

I'm not even a Harry Potter fan particularly, but I do love a good fantasy setting and this really hit the mark with me. Beautiful graphics and realised world which I enjoyed every moment of exploring. Only thing that really let it down was the combat being a bit simplistic but overall really enjoyed this one. Still cba to read the books though.

The Last of Us - 9.5/10

This one was special. The strength of this game is certainly it's characters and it's story. I was invested from start to finish and I'm gearing up for the expansion next. After that I may play through again on a NG+ or with some of the unlockable game modifications that you can earn through exploration.

The game world blew me away at times with the attention to detail and the sense of realism, though the conveniently placed crates in combat scenarios did break immersion here and there.

For me the combat was probably the weakest part. By no means bad and at times the AI in combat surprised me but, I found the gun play to be a little clunky and difficult. Though I'd mostly put that last part down to my incompetence with a controller. I could have used a mouse and keyboard I know but the controller is far more comfortable in a game like this.

All in all, loved it.

Star Wars Squadrons.

8/10 - Perfectly nails the Star Wars flight fantasy and gives you the experience from both sides of the force, including all the star ships and weapons systems you can want.
Gameplay was decent although a little frustrating at times with a controller.
Story was actually really good and kept me motivated to play, although the characters are completely unrelatable and boring - obviously went woke in this regard which is no surprise but oh well.
