Castlevania Lords of Shadow (Xbox 360... I know)

10/10

I have played through this game so many times, 100% completion, complete it about twice a year. I LOVE it, I read an article about the new one potentially coming to PC so setup my 360 again just to play this lol.

Fantastic game. Take it you've heard about the sequel?

ME2
10/10

Despite the hate people gave the game for being dumbed down compared to the first one I loved it and I actually felt sad when the game finished as I was enjoying it so much.

Also that gets added to my under 10 games I've completed in the last 10 years list.

I don't think it gets any hate. Even those who do think it is 'dumbed down' usually like it almost as much as the first one I think. The third one however....

I've played ME1 and ME2 recently and while ME3 is definitely "dumbed down" what with lack of inventory etc, I can't say I'm not enjoying it. Doesn't seem as good as ME2 but I'll see it through to the end. Multiplayer is also great fun.

Yea, I can't wait! I love the atmosphere, the story telling, the narration on the loading screen is amazing! I still listen to it haha. I love the backdrops, the variation in surroundings and level design.

The story is perfectly paced, you know where you are, what you are doing, why you are there. So you have goals "Oooo, nearly at the castle, just the surrounding marsh to go through first!". I have goosebumps hehe.

Only thing I got bored with, was the weapons and attacks. But even then, just mix it up! I truly think it's the best game of this generation.

You sod haha. Going to have to play it this week again lol.

I think the third is equally as good! If you disreguard the ending that is... I just take the IT as fact now so...

I can't disregard the ending:p...even doing that though, ME3 has a lot of issues with the story imo. It has by far the best action in it though, and a few incredible moments.

For me it goes: ME1 just slightly ahead of ME2, with 3 a fair bit behind.

Hitman - quite good actually, an 8.

I don't often complete games, I think over the past 2/3 years its been this, Saints Row 2 and Sleeping Dogs that ive only gone the full distance for.. so on that basis it had to be good for me to play.

Haha :D The Castlevania games have always had great atmosphere, and a lovely art style to boot. I do still miss the 2D/sidescrolling games at times but luckily Mirror of Fate isn't far away now! However I think a playthrough of Lord of Shadows is in order before the sequel hits too :p

Also recently found out that Robert Carlyle plays Gabriel Belmont, so cool!

Ok I might be getting mistaken with the third. I got the 3rd last night and got a free bit of DLC from origin saying about it expands on the ending or something. Although the game feels a bit more of a shooter I'm not feeling as hooked or addicted as I was playing the the 2nd. Hopefully it picks up.

Yeah I can agree with that. I think if 2 had 3's slightly more gelled combat, it would have been an all round winner.

Far Cry 3 - Finally managed to finish the main storyline the other night. Brilliant game, really drew me in and it's a long time since a PC game has done that for me. Plot was a bit disjointed at times and ok it gets a bit 'samey' now and again but it runs superbly even on a modest rig and looks lush. Now I've just got to head back around the island completing all the side missions and having a good explore.

I'd give it 9/10. Really enjoyed it.:)

Thought I would complete a few games that I had left close to the end for whatever reason(I seem to do this a fair bit).

Hitman Absolution

Positvies

  • Much more polished than previous titles
  • Excellent control system, with good use of cover and the shooting mechanics are very good indeed. Almost made me want to play it as a straight out shooter....almost;)
  • Disguises/Instinct etc all seemed to work fairly well, but not perfectly
  • Cinematics were first-rate, didn't overdo it but were very stylish
  • Good variety in levels
  • Some classic assassinations and some quality levels right up there with the best of Hitman. Taking out Lenny's mates when you arrive in Hope was probably my favourite
  • Pretty satisfying story
  • Good length. I am actually finding that a lot of games are too long recently...by this I mean that the gameplay gets boring before the end. This was just right.
  • Difficulty levels are well implemented, and it can be as challenging as you want.
  • A very, very good port indeed. Ran incredibly smoothly, plenty of PC options and looks incredible
Negatives

  • Some of the gameplay elements. whilst functional, were not that great. Instinct could be overused at lower difficulties. Disguises could have done with tweaking if you ask me.
  • Enemy AI, whilst ok overall could have been better. You can occasionally walk right in front of someone without them seeing you
  • Imo, the game needed a really memorable antagonist, but didn't really have one.
  • Often objectives were not that clear at all. I sometimes was not sure what exactly I was supposed to be doing tbh. For example, at the end, I killed someone(agency woman) but it was not explained at all why I had to kill her.
  • Following on from that, as you are not actually doing contracts fro people in this, a few options would have been nice. For the one mentioned above for example, as you were following your own goals, I don't see why you couldn't just sneak past her, or subdue her.
  • A few small things, like not being able to close doors, carrying unlimited guns etc. Don't really bother me, but will a lot of Hitman fans

Overall, I was very impressed with the game. I have always loved Hitman, but the franchise was in dire need of a revamp imo, and this game has breathed new life in to the series

8.5/10. Thought it was excellent!

Aliens:Colonial Marines - 5/10
A huge letdown given the potential and expectation - though honestly I did enjoy the odd moment of SP and it even looked alright in parts. Overall though it's a very unpolished and quite frankly - unfinished game.

Dishonored - 9/10
Really enjoyed this. Beautiful art direction and visuals, very fluid controls and fun action/stealth gameplay. The story is mildly interesting but the world and back story is given a very rich texture.

Crysis 2 - 7/10

Really good game.

Prefer the setting of the first two games than this one, they just seemed to have more variety to them.

This just seemed linear and boring. I got lost with the story halfway through and wanted to finish it quickly.

Assasins Creed II

8/10

Bought the series in one of the sales so was time to play them :)

I enjoyed the story, gameplay can get a bit repetetive after a while and the game is starting to show some age but on the whole very good game. And a long one too.

next up, Brotherhood.

Fable: Lost chapters on steam
http://store.steampowered.com/app/204030/?l=english

One of the best games on X box, there's two versions the original Fable and Fable the lost chapters which basically added content that was meant to be in the original game.

Graphics look decent considering it's age. Great British humour which sets it apart from other action role-playing games. Much better than Fable 2 and the stinker Fable 3.

9/10
