Alan wake & American nightmare.

8/10.

The story is fantastic and the atmosphere within the game is also superb. It has great visuals and runs very well on the PC. The only issue I had was the combat felt slightly clunky so I took off a point for it.
I only wish I had played this sooner as this is as close to the classic resident evil games but made during this generation. I couldnt put this down though once I started it so two thumbs up for anyone who recently picked it up! :D

Bioshock Infinte 8/10.

Gameplay was good. Some parts reminded me of the first one where it was dark and depressing at times. Story was good, didnt see the end coming at all.

Just finished Tomb Raider - 9/10

It has an amazing level of polish and the level design is fantastic. Enemy AI is also quite good for a change, and their animations were cool. They went a bit over the top with the amount of bodies and skeletons all over the place though. And I noticed they decided to show the naked corpses with their groin area ripped off rather than show a penis - once again violence and gore are acceptable but nudity is not (not that I want to see wangs, just saying they obviously decided on that)! :p

I think they should have paid more attention to Lara's pain noises too, a lot of them sounded very porno!

I loved it as well:)....It took me absolutely ages to get through the first episode, as I just wasn't feeling it, but once I played a bit more, I couldn't stop playing, and didn't want it to end. One of my favourite stories in gaming.

The combat does get very repetitive, but I really liked the dodge mechanic. I also liked the fact that there were not too many guns, something which I have noticed a few games recently suffer from imo(Tomb Raider and The Last of Us mainly)

Exactly what happened to me, I struggled to get going but once I did the game really sucked me in. It might have been me that was bad at the dodge thing but it was frustrating at times when youre swamped with enemies around you but glad I stuck with it.

Half Life 2: Episode 1 and 2 - 8/10

Thoroughly enjoyed these, expands the story but the gameplay is just more of the good old HL2 really.

Metro Last light - 9/10

The visuals and sounds are jaw dropping and most gameplay elements have been improved over 2033, including the weapons which now feel tighter and more lethal. The stealth feels abit weak in places, but it's still enjoyable to sneak around. Other mechanics like gasmasks and use of light, plus ammo conservation on harder settings all adds great levels of tension and a feeling of unease. The game is very linear but the premise of the game is so layered and the environments are so beautifully realized you cant help but feel immersed, lost and vulnerable in a huge and unforgiving hell. Definitely my GOTY so far.

Recently completed Tomb Raider and really enjoyed it

8/10
+Graphically stunning in parts, and good throughout
+great level design
+Story was good enough that I didn't get bored and characters were engaging (most at least
+combat was satisfying and progressed as you unlock new weapons
+ending was pretty sweet and actually felt like a boss level (although pretty easy to beat)

- QT events, although used reasonably well, are never a positive to me
- Some of the collectibles were boring as ass and seemed like busy-work to pad the game out, which made it drag a bit when it didn't need to.

I guess the use of a RPG or AK would not fit well In a Sniper game:D

You joke, but in the previous game in the series you get to use assault rifles :)
Most of the time it didn't bother me except for a mission where you've lost your sniper rifle so have just a pistol with like 4 bullets, kill a dude who drops his assault rifle and it just sits there on the floor teasing you. Totally ruins the believability of the situation.

Mass Effect 3 (yeah I hadn't played it in about 8 months)

Enjoyed the story
Voice acting was great
Humping aliens was good
Graphics were great
Combat was ok (preferred ME1's combat out of all 3 games)
Ending was OK, but I can see why people weren't happy.

8/10 overall

Red Faction: Guerilla

Absolutely awesome game,
was solid on this for last couple of days,
graphics are still very good quality imo
decent resistance from enemies though the last fight may have been a tad overkill but certainly doable.
Cinematics we're good, could have had a few more.

Major downfall, needs Games for Windows Live, mine kept asking for CDKey each time saying it's invalid and the game would log in!

Age of Empires 2 HD

The game that keeps on giving, sunk 100s of hrs into the original and the remake only makes things better.

9.6/10 for the original
7.8 for the HD edition (as it's more spit 'n' polish than an actual full remake)

I'm really pleased with myself because over the past couple of months I've completed 4 games, which is really rare for me, but I'm enjoying actually finishing some and getting rid of the guilt I have from never completing anything.

Anyway, they are:

Bioschock Infinite
7.5/10

Loved the story, I found some of the firefights really fun, but the AI was pretty stupid and the firefights soon got quite repetitive. The story definitely made up for it though, I felt a bit sad when it was over.

Hitman Absolution
8/10

I really loved this! I thought the controls were great, it was always really easy to get 47 to do and move how I wanted him to. It was also extremely satisfying shooting people for some reason! I loved all the challenges, although it was a bit silly that you could unlock some, then reload your last checkpoint and do something else in order to get them all. I also loved how you had multiple ways of completing the levels. Thoroughly enjoyed the whole thing.

Max Payne 3
8/10
Great controls and really fun firefights. Story was pretty good, although I was kind of losing track of it towards the end. It was pretty much the perfect length, any longer and I'd have started getting quite bored of it.

Skyrim (main quest)
9/10

I finally got around to finishing the main quest of Skyrim, and I've done a fair few side quests as well, although I do plan on going back to it soon to finish off more of the game and try to level my character up a bit more. Brilliant game, great world, and with the mods that are available it looks pretty fantastic as well.

I pretty much agree. In fact, I have noticed over the last few years that most games that I have played have been exactly the right length imo....Bioshock Infinite, The Last of Us, Dishonored, Tomb Raider, Arkham Asylum to name a few.

I think it is down to the type of game that it is, and how tight the story is....Those games are all fairly linear(bar Dishonored, but the story in that is very well paced imo) so they need to stop before they get stale, but open-world games I like to be a bit longer...for example, I thought Deus Ex:HR was too short and it took me about 40 hours, Max Payne was about right, or if anything too long and it took me about 7 hours.

Bioshock 1, 8/10. I know that this game has a lot of hype surrounding it, and to be fair it is a great game. But it didn't make me as absorbed as Bioshock Infinite so that's why it get a an 8 rather than 9 which I awarded to Infinite

Alan Wake. 7/10.

Really enjoyed the mystery although it goes abit insane. Gameplay while initially good fun, gets abit repetitive as the game progresses. Awesome soundtrack.
