State of Decay 9/10

One of the very few games I've completed. Usually I get bored quickly and move on to the next one.

The game has some graphic issues (mainly clipping) but the fun of playing it had me overlook this completely.

Great concept, zombie action combined with managing a survior group economy, balanced in such a way that I just couldn't stop playing until the end credits started rolling.

I've moved onto the State of Decay - Breakdown DLC now, more of the same, but as a sandbox game with higher difficulty, just as good if not better as the main game.

Highly recommended.

I was hooked on State of decay. Fantastic game. Then I built a new PC system and installed a new SSD with Windows 8.1 on it. I backed up my saved games from the correct State of Decay folder then reinstalled the game and dropped the saves back in. Fired the game up and the main menu found the saved game progress and allowed me to continue. Then as soon as the game starts, its right back at the beginning of the campaign, down by the lake up at the forest ranger station. Doesn't matter what you do, every tme you try loading the saved progress in it starts you right back at the begnning again. Browsing the internet and the games official forums it seems this is a common issue for folk that has no solution as yet. Drove me up the wall so I ended up binning the game which was seriously annoying.

Finished Call of Juarez Gunslinger t'other day. Such a laugh, really enjoyed it. It looks great, runs smooth and I liked the story/narration around it. Actual gameplay is just a shooting gallery but can't get enough of blasting people with my six-shooter. It's like being Dirty Harry with spurs. Playing it through again on hardest setting which is rare for me. 8/10

Not really PC games but console section is crap :p

Shadow of the Colossus

Good

- Awesome gameplay, love that the game is exploration and 16 boss fights, really unique and fun.
- Good length
- Beautiful world considering how old it is
- Fantastic minimalistic story like Ico
- Feels

Bad
- Controls are arse in many places
- Makes killing 'mobs' in other games even more tedious after 16 generally fantastic boss fights.

Ico

Good
- Interesting mechanic on dragging a companion throughout the world with you and fun puzzles.
- Awesome art/graphics
- Fantastic minimalistic story
- Good length and difficulty without any gimmicks really
- Feels

Bad
- Probably only because I played its 'prequel' before it (although released after) the combat was pretty shocking and boring, but to be expected playing them back to back, doesn't play a huge role in it.

Catherine

Good
- Fun puzzle gameplay with real difficulty
- Very unique, not played anything like eit
- Great story with multiple endings
- Nice anime art

Bad
- I suck at puzzles, time constraints forced me to cheat
- Although not central to the story felt other characters could've been fleshed out a bit.

All three awesome games and worth playing.

Metro 2033

8/10

Enjoyed the playthrough, first time. Excellent atmosphere and loved the small references to past events. Enjoyed the ending (alternate ending) and found parts a legitimate challange.

Great for a couple of quid.

DLC for RAGE.

It was fine, but nothing better than the main campaign for the game. Now and again it ran very choppy (as did the main game), though I appreciate that as often seems to be the case, games will run better on Nvidia hardware.

Averaqe score of 5/10.

Dark souls 2 - its a great game by modern standards but not a patch on the first one despite obvious improvements in many areas. The biggest problem with the game is that it gives you less direction than the first one to almost frustrating degrees!

Portal & Portal 2

Solid 10 - loved the 2nd one even more than the first. Absolutely loved the gameplay and both games manage a real sense of foreboding. Hilarious dialogue from GLaDOS makes her one of the best NPC's in a game I've encountered, although Cave Johnson comes a close second.

XCOM Enemy Within - 9/10

Loved the "original" remake and felt this was even better, with the soldier enhancements and base defence adding extra depth.

Having 2 Mech Troopers with fully loaded Mechas almost felt unfair against the lower tier enemies when cleaning out downed UFOs and the once-feared Chryssalids became a minor annoyance.
