The Last Of Us

i'm gonna pass on this one, not keen on playing ellie , no doubt it will be excellent .
just can't see myself playing a girl ,was hoping it would be joel or his brother
I never understood this outlook... I mean, it's not like you actually ARE a girl, you're just manoeuvring a character through a story. A human story. Couldn't the same be said of any movie staring a girl?

Ah well, to each his own I suppose :p

i didn't seem to mind when i was younger but as i've grown older ,it just irritates me

I just tried playing The Last of Us again after getting part way through and not enjoying it last time. This game is so highly rated and praised by everyone, but I just don't like it at all, I don't like the pace of it, the whole feel of it is not enjoyable to me. I love the uncharted games, but just can't have fun playing this at all.

Am i weird? :p

i want to save the princess at the end of the game not be one ,lol

What about games like Mass Effect where the female Shepard has more interesting customization options? Personally I play as a female character if given the choice, purely because it makes a change from the usual formula of being some overly butch hero. :p

Of course.

Next stop Assassin's Creed 3... though I really ought to play AC2 first, from my Steam list!

Yeah, play 2 first, along with Brotherhood and Revelations. I also got AC3 from PSplus, started it up, and realised I didn't have a clue what was going on, so I'm finishing off my AC2 save (thought I was almost finished it, but I was actually only about half way through!) and luckily my friendly neighbourhood Blockbuster has a 40% off everything sale on at the moment, and I managed to get their last copies of both Brotherhood and Revelations for £13 :D

Heads up to anyone who hasn't had chance to grab this, I've just ordered my copy from the rainforest's Warehouse Deal at £20.90, hope its worth it, gonna' tide me over till I grab the PS4 when it seems the titles improve.

*The Walking Dead game spoilers discussed here*

I just finished this last night. I was actually somewhat underwhelmed by the ending. Like most people, I was expecting it to be more heart-wrenching and for Joel to die. It was a bit anti-climactic I thought, and funnily enough the writer said this is what many people said when they tested the ending. Originally it had a more upbeat ending. I was more affected by the end of TWD where Lee dies, I actually shed a tear or too and it had a big impact on me.

I really liked the writing and artwork in the game. The characters, acting and dialogue were superb. I loved how Joel was such a badass, he didn't mess about (like when torturing those guys to get Eli's whereabouts)!

It was interesting how they also made him somewhat flawed too. He needed someone to live for. Before he had Tess, and before that his brother. With both of them he had to do terrible things to survive and it was the same with Eli. This is the first game where I actually felt sorry for some of the enemies. Like in the beginning you can hear some guy talking about hoping his cousin is OK and then you kill him. Near the end at the cannibal town you can hear some people saying that the leader David had gone crazy and they needed to elect a new leader.

I think at the end Eli knows Joel is lying, but she knows that that shows how much he cares about her that he wants her to stay alive, so she pretends to believe him. It could also be that she sees how he needs her to stay alive, so she agrees to fulfill that role.

Incidentally, I only killed the doctor with the scalpel :). I thought the escape was really well done, how it mirrored what happened with his daughter. I actually thought Eli might die there, especially when the lift doors opened.

not sure if this has been posted before, but thought it may interest some of you

it's a fan film of Last of US. so far they have done 2 parts.

Coming 14th February 2014
Official Naughty Dog page

Ellie returns as new light is shed on her relationship with Riley, her best friend from the military boarding school they both grew up in. After inexplicably disappearing for weeks, Riley reemerges in Ellie’s life with a surprising revelation. The two sneak out of their school for the last time, leading to a series of events that will forever change both of their lives.

Reveal video in case anyone missed it:

Left Behind takes place while Ellie is attending a military boarding school in the Boston quarantine zone, prior to meeting Joel and the events in the main campaign of The Last of Us.

Joining Ellie on this new adventure is Riley, her best friend and also a mentor of sorts at the military boarding school. Just as The Last of Us focused on the bond between Ellie and Joel, Left Behind explores the bond between Ellie and Riley through a series of events that will forever change both of their lives.

IGN's brief 'first look' at Left Behind:

No pre-order placeholder on the PS Store yet but it is part of the Season Pass if you're so inclined. Pretty obvious that a certain thing we already know about happens to Ellie in this DLC, so that'll be interesting.

Very much looking forward to this, plus it means I'll actually have something to do this Valentine's Day. Yay! :o

Also found this interesting video called Between The Lines:

A few weeks ago The Last of Us Creative Director Neil Druckmann visited local LA TV station KLCS and filmed Between the Lines with Barry Kibrick. Barry wanted to dive deeper into the philosophy behind The Last of Us and what makes the game the universally acclaimed hit it is. The full episode is now available online. It’s a great interview with some questions and answers you wouldn’t typically hear.
