The Last Of Us

From what I remember that is the only time you notice loading in these games from Naughty Dog. The same as Uncharted. Just at the beginning a real long load and then never again for that session until you switch off and start again.

Please tell me it's not my PS3 dying but that you guys also face a 4+ minute initial load time?

I thought it was just the initial load time when I first played the game, but I've just booted up for the second time after saving my progress and it literally took just under 5 minutes. I've never seen load times like it.

it gets worse. This game really hammers the PS3 mine got too hot to play after a while. not sure if they have released a patch for this but in the end I gave up on it.

This doesn't really belong here, but Last of Us was what got me on the Naughty Dog train, and was only the second PS3 title I'd ever bought. It inspired me to play Uncharted 1, which I found rather disappointing. But UC2 was marvelously cinematic, and UC3, which I've just finished playing through on the easiest setting, is equally impressive.

While it wasn't easy to see the connection, in talent terms, between UC1 and LoU, UC2 & 3 are clearly from the same school of capable story telling and amazing artistic and technical talent. These experiences -- while always easy to pick holes in -- have really turned me from a PC snob into someone who now just wants great games and doesn't care where I find them.

Having said that, I have cancelled my PS4 preorder because I can't justify taking early adopter risks just to play a bit of Resogun. But the moment Naughty Dog make an announcement I'll be handing over my cash. :-)

Anyway, er... yes, Last of Us... great game. The only bad thing about it is it persuaded me to sign up to PS+ and now my Steam pile of shame has a PS3 pile to match! Next stop Assassin's Creed 3... though I really ought to play AC2 first, from my Steam list!

Uncharted 2 is (in my opinion) one of the finest gaming experiences of the last couple generations. Truly outstanding.

Naughty Dog revealed new story-based DLC for The Last of Us during tonight's PlayStation Live event, going into Ellie's backstory. Titled The Last of Us: Left Behind, the very brief teaser shows Ellie and Riley Abel from the game's prequel comic approaching an abandoned carousel.

The PlayStation.Blog notes that this story-based DLC will put players in control of Ellie, as it explores some of the events of the Boston quarantine zone that lead into the main game.

The Last of Us: Left Behind will release in early 2014 and will be part of the game's Season Pass.

Yeah just noticed this. Great news. Ellie backstory is a cool idea. Don't normally buy DLC but this is a day one purchase for me.

Has anyone read the comics? Are they decent?

I will have to borrow TLoU off a mate when this DLC comes out. I paid for the season pass stupidly thinking the DLC would be out this year.

I ended up selling my Joel edition of the game.
