The Last Of Us

How on earth did GTA 4 get such a high score? I liked the game, but I didn't think it was anything special, and found other sandbox games like Saints Row to be a lot more fun.

The guys at GameSpot are a strange bunch now a days. Watch the next fifa/Cod score significantly higher with them.

I tend to ignore the likes of Gamespot and IGN anyway, theyr'e the gaming equivalent of tabloid newspapers most of the time. High readership, lots of advertising revenue, but they bring nothing of any real value to the table when it comes down to it.

Have to admit the score for GTA IV did surprise me when I noticed it some months back. It’s a good game, but uncharted 2, Portal 2 and Batman Arkham city are much better in terms of story and gameplay, don’t get me wrong GTA IV is a good game. But then it was ambitious; however so was Red Dead and I felt Red Dead was better as well.

On the 14 June I’ll have Last of Us meaning I’d have owned and played and still own the top 8 PS3 games across PS3 and PC as I got Bioshock and GTA IV for the PC instead of PS3 and own Batman Arkham across both those two platforms, well technically I own Portal across both platforms as well, but only as valve provided a steam code for Portal 2.

Still rate uncharted 2 the best out of all of them though. I can play uncharted 2 over and over, it just never gets old. Last of Us has big shoes to fill. It looks like its up to the task.

I do like some of the journalists working for them like Kevin VanOrd, Greg Miller, and Colin Moriarty. Not a big fan of IGN or Gamespot as a whole, but they've got some good guys working for them.

Me too. In fact I've never read IGN much in the past 5 years. I do read eurogamer, and I find sixthaxis a good read. Digital Spy I tend to read but only as it also covers TV and Movies as well as all types of gaming..

Think I'll probably play this on Hard, I suspect any lower difficulty will be a bit too willing to give you resources, ammo etc when you need it.

Someone should start a thread. I'd do it but I haven't got many posts so might not be taken seriously :p

You should just do it! Nobody cares about post count and the ones that do aren't worth caring about. :p

+1

Gamespot have a few journalists whose reviews I enjoy but as a whole I don't really rate the website. IGN don't have any redeeming qualities whatsoever though, I'd much sooner head over to Kotaku, Eurogamer or Giant Bomb. 1up is alright too.

I'm not going near the multiplayer until after I finish the story. Switching between the tension of the storyline and the "kill everything" of the multiplayer will be a bit jarring, I think.

I heard GreenManGaming were doing it for £38, might be worth a look. I've never used them for physical games though.

Just realised that Polygon scored Remember Me higher than TLoU, which is quite funny really. Not that it matters, one or two slightly lower scores to the rest are not something to be actively concerned about.

I went with ShopTo. More expensive but at least you're guaranteed to get it on the 12th or 13th :)
