The Last Of Us

That's Tesco's fault? I can't say I've ever ordered anything from their online shop, but I don't see why people are so worked up about them not updating the status.

Well yeah, they're the company selling it! At the moment it's seemingly in a stage of limbo where the order status says one thing, but Tesco support are saying another.

It's frustrating because people like myself are concerned the game won't arrive tomorrow. If it does then great, but it'd be nice to at least have some indication.

Wait until tomorrow to see if it arrives or not?

No point getting worked up until tomorrow or getting annoyed that you have not received the game before it is released.

Ah, didn't know you worked in a hospital. You should have asked a friend or family member that is close by if you could have it delivered there, or a trusted neighbour :), although it helps that there are a fair few older people living near by who will always accept parcels if they see me not in and will more often than not just bring them round or come and tell me they have them when they see me getting home.

I've had all sorts delivered to my house and I've had things delivered at friends house for similar reasons, I've even house sat waiting for deliveries.

That's my next plan - trusted neighbours aren't sure if they'll be home tomorrow, so I might leave a note on the door asking them to leave it in a space behind the back gate, or to drop it in through the little window next to the door (and to take the note down once they've been there of course). Alternatively, I've a friend coming over tomorrow who wants to play through the game with me, so I could ask him if he'd be willing to housesit for me in-case it doesn't fit through the letterbox.

It's the attitude that because you pre ordered something you should get it before the release date that I don't get, if I pre order something and pay for delivery on the release day then that is when I expect it.

Why is it not nice to hear other people have it? I wouldn't have thought it matters as you would have ear marked the release day for playing the game.

By all means, get frustrated if it doesn't arrive on the day of release if that is what you paid for, other wise, I don't understand the frustration and annoyance at all.

I'm not bothered about getting it before the release date in general since I wouldn't have had a chance to play it until Friday anyways (but was kinda hoping if it did arrive on Thursday, I could take the failed to deliver card to the depot and pick it up on the way to work on Friday). I think part of the reason I became so panicked about it not arriving on the release date is that I've primarily used Amazon for pre-orders for the past several years, but went with Tesco 'cos they were the only ones stocking the Joel Edition back then, and they're usually very quick to update you on stuff and always have it sent out in time for release. So Tesco's lack of status updates has me worried, but I'll just keep waiting patiently and hope their Customer Support is right about it arriving on time!

The point is, if they haven't send it today, it isn't going to arrive tomorrow. I'm not annoyed that I haven't received it today, I don't know where you're getting this impression from.

Most of my "annoyance" has been in jest anyway, thought that was fairly obvious given how borderline-fanatical I've been about this game over the past few weeks/months!

How do you know they haven't posted it?

The status on their website might not reflect the actual status of the parcel.

I'm not having a go at specific users, I've just always found it funny that people in threads like this for other games get annoyed that their copy of the game hasn't arrived before the release date.

If I pre order cinema tickets I don't expect to be able to turn up the day before and watch it, if I pre order a game, I don't expect it to arrive before the release date.

The lack of status updates seems to be the case according to their CS feed: "We always aim to release pre-orders to Royal Mail in time for the release date. The online status doesn't always update I'm sorry." (https://twitter.com/UKTesco/status/345220606616272896). Starting to feel slightly more hopeful now :p

At least people's status has been changing a little, mine changed to simply "confirmed" this morning and hasn't moved since....don't think I've seen anyone with that status, just varying statuses of "partially..."

No, you watch the movie on release day. Due to possible problems beyond control with the postie, you would expect the seller to dispatch the game Wednesday for a Friday delivery with Royal Mail or dispatch Thursday for next day courier. Anything other than that, I would be pee'd off as it will likely mean my preorder is late and hasn't achieved the purpose of preordering.

Would you be happy if you preordered cinema tickets for release day only to be told the cinema is fully booked and you have to wait another day!?

That isn't what is happening though :D, this is people being annoyed at not getting a game before release and getting worried because Tesco haven't updated the status on their orders.

It's a total non thing, if the game doesn't arrive on Friday (the day of release) and you paid to have the game delivered on Friday then be annoyed and frustrated.

With your cinema / fully booked thing, that would work if you didn't get the game and when you contacted to ask where it was they said they had ran out of stock.
