The Last Of Us

FFS this game looks so exceptional, it's literally the first time I've wanted a PS3 as well as my Xbox. :(

It really is. Most games you finish and then go back to whatever you were doing, whereas even after completing it yesterday, this one is still resonating with me and making me think about things that happened.

A truly amazing experience, and well worth the wait.

It's refreshing to see a games developer get this genre bang on. Will PS3 games be compatible with the PS4 do you know? I'm tempted to try and borrow a PS3 to play it, I usually play games like this multiple times though.

Nope, PS4 won't play PS3 games. There is a online service in the works to stream games but little is really known.

Just finished my survivor playthrough and I must say, found it much more enjoyable than on normal. The tension of having little ammo/supplies really helps with the immersion.

Think I'll hold off on New Game + for a while. Put some time into the mp instead.

It's hard to keep track of this thread, but I wanted to stick my nose back in and say that after an uninspiring start -- in gameplay terms -- I've grown to see this game as more of an interactive TV series than an interactive movie.

And by that I mean a *great* TV series, not Eastenders. I'm probably not too far through, despite playing on easy and spending ages hunting for more tape (please, more tape!) but the intensity of the gameplay has ramped up in a way which kind of crept up on me. It's definitely a unique overall experience, perhaps summed up by my complete elation/relief when a message popped up saying I'd gained the skill to make shivs last twice as long.

It was like Christmas come early! Of course I then needed twice as many shivs almost immediately... what Naughty Dog gives, Naughty Dog also taketh away. :-)

Anyway, although I still regret forking out £40 online for a single game I can't pass on (that's about two years of Steam Sale purchases!) I reluctantly welcome the excuse to finally get to grips with operating a controller (kind of!) and have just forked out another £40 for a year of PS+, because I think it's going to be an interesting year to be paying more attention to the PS3, as they incentivise people to keep buying & playing.

Of course I now need to get hold of Uncharted 1 & 2 so I can make the most of my 'free' Uncharted 3. But this is probably a good problem to have. :-)

Edit: 46% of the way through, 12 hours played. Further and faster (considering what a coward I am!) than I thought. Feels like I've been in there a lifetime though. Sessions of an hour or two feel like forever, in a good way, and the dramatic interludes feel like genuine and welcome staging points in your journey rather than annoying blah, blah distractions, as they can be in games with weaker plots and acting.

Awesome game, iam only 60% through but enjoying taking my time and looking around.

The only issue I have had so far is that after an hour it makes my poor old PS3 sound like it's trying to lift a harrier jump jet off the ground.

This has had so many great reviews/comments that I just had to pick it up, it'll actually mean switching my PS3 on for the first time in 9 months though, hope it still works :)

I haven't been playing this as much as I'd have liked - I haven't had the time and I've been playing other games. Well, I think I played about 2 hours before the boyfriend took over and hogged the controller :p and we're about 6 hours in.

So far it's been pretty cool. I'm finding some parts a bit repetitive, but the storyline has made up for that. I've never felt so 'involved' in a game before - loving Ellie's character. Looking forward to seeing how everything pans out.

Just hit 95% when i stopped last night! 16hrs in on hard with no listen mode and its been great! Really dont want it to end ive enjoyed it soo much! Hope theres an hour or so in the last 5% :D

Survivor+ playthrough done in just over 9 hours, actually became rather easy after a few playthroughs once you know how many enemies there are and where to go. Upgraded health and weapons really help as well. Top tip: Upgrade your hunting rifle and El Diablo to maximum damage, really helps in a certain rather difficult area.

brilliant game, completed last night, took me around 14 hours on normal mode though I should mention the missus watched the whole thing and insists I pick up every bit of ammo / health available lol. What an incredible game :)

Well played sir, are you going for the plat or something?

I was the same. I actually looked forward to taking breaks and walking, talking and exploring with Ellie. I just wished they lasted a bit longer.

Uncharted 1 and 2 are two of the best games of the generation; for the first 75% of each anyway, but that's another discussion. 3 felt a bit of rush job if I'm honest.
