The Last Of Us

Continuing my obsession with this game, I see Amazon now have the official hardcover strategy guide (with firefly pendant keyring) and the official art book. I never normally care about extra stuff like this, why am I so tempted now?!

Because this game looks downright amazing, and is a good sign that the PS3 is going out with a bang? :D

I only want the strategy guide for the keyring really! It's the art book that I really like but it's £27, and it's almost certain to be under £10 a few months after the game is out.

Bah.

I'm the same - never buy into game extras or even pre-order games. But this game is really selling everything to me!

On another note - Naughty Dog have finished the game and it is now being sent for manufacture :D

You guys aren't helping here! I was expecting "LOL, you wouldn't actually buy that tacky crap would you?". :p

Also I found this:
https://ebgames.com.au/ps3-161392-The-Last-of-Us-12-Statue-PlayStation-3

Seems to be the same thing included in the Post-Pandemic Edition of the game that the US is getting. Stupidly expensive though. Which is a shame. Or not, as I'd probably want one otherwise.

Just checked again, and it seems a mini-version of the art book is included with the Special Editions of the game. Whether it contains the same stuff as the full-size version or just a smaller selection, I don't know.

Ha ha. I'll be the voice of reason...

That figurine is faaaar too expensive :p

Have you pre ordered a special edition version of the game? You can get your mini art book fix via that. Wait for the prices to come down before considering buying the full size version.

You know it makes sense :D

I don't normally buy them, but the Hardback Strategy Guide with the Firefly keychain is only £12 - sounds like a steal :p

Yeah I pre-ordered the Joel Edition from Tesco for £40. Wanted the Ellie one but Game have exclusive rights to that and they think it's worth £15 more. Hilarious.

So with 4 weeks until release, I thought I'd throw together a collection of The Last Of Us stuff to get you hyped/keep you occupied/givethegametomenowplease.

Okay, so here's some cool stuff I've found on my travels recently, including some that I haven't seen elsewhere before.

Screenshots
Some nice screenshots I don't think I've seen used before; at least a few of these look like in-game quality. Taken from ND's Flickr page. No story spoilers here, just using the spoiler tags as they're quite large images and I know some people might not want to see them.

First two are from a few days ago, the rest are from February it seems but I don't recognise some of them:

Some others from March I think that I must have somehow missed. Liking the look of the snow scene, makes me wonder where Joel and Ellie will be travelling to/through and what sort of timeframe the game will be in too:

Videos

Some vids (some newer than others) that I hadn't seen until recently, plus some other stuff that people may have missed including the panels from various events which I always enjoy watching. No obvious spoilers, just saving your scroll-wheel finger from RSI:

Guys at Naughty Dog talking about putting the E3 demo together:

Community Strategist at ND Arne Meyer talks a bit about combat, game length and multiplayer DLC:

Adam Sessler speaking to Neil Druckman after the hands-on demo in February, some interesting stuff I didn't know here.

Devs talking about the characters, the story and the environment:

Behind the scenes at Naughty Dog:

Gameplay footage from one of the Game lock-ins this month. They die. A lot. Crap quality but gives you an idea of the combat/gameplay:

In case you've missed them, or just want to watch them again and again and again and again with a controller in your hands pretending the game is already here (which would be ridiculous...right?), here are the official trailers and gameplay demos. Again, no specific spoilers here, just saving our scroll wheels from excessive mileage:

"I saw this...right before the outbreak." - E3 2012 Extended gameplay demo:
(Shorter version is HERE)

"By the looks of it, you could lose some of that food..." - Bill's Safehouse cinematic:

"He ain't even hurt." - Truck Ambush cinematic trailer:

"I reckon it's got something to do with that girl." - Spike Awards 2012 story trailer:

"I've been on both sides." - Gamescom 2012 trailer:

"How is it that you're never scared?" - TV Spot 1 Extended:

"Joel's done some terrible things..." - TV Spot 2 May 2013:

And finally, if you haven't pre-ordered the game yet, there's still time to fix that. Here's what you get in the Special Editions:

BUY.

Didn't even realise the PS3 was capable of this.

Naughty Dog has told Game Informer that its upcoming survival horror epic The Last of Us will be released digitally through the PlayStation Store on June 14, the same day that the game releases in stores on Blu-ray disc. There's also something special about this simultaneous release.

Naughty Dog's creative director Neil Druckmann and The Last of Us game director Bruce Straley told Game Informer that Sony has worked a little magic so that you won't have much of a delay before playing the digital version. The game will be playable once the download hits 50 percent. Sony has promised that, on PlayStation 4, downloadable games will be almost instantly playable while the download carries on in the background.

I really like the look of this game, don't have any console at the moment but will be buying a PS4 on release, hopefully this game will be on it.
