*** The MacBook Pro (Mid-2009) Thread ***

The SATA issue put me right off as soon as I had placed the offer, was already in delivery so I couldn't cancel.

I've decided to change my room around so will put the money towards that. If the SATA issue had not been there, I think I would be in the stage of fitting an SSD about now [i.e not being able to resist temptation].

I'm sure it'll be a great computer regardless - I'll probably pick one up closer to September time (Uni) but the SATA thing makes it less desirable than it should be, for me.

MacBook Pro EFI Firmware Update 1.7 addresses an issue reported by a small number of customers using drives based on the SATA 3Gbps specification with the June 2009 MacBook Pro
That bit is quite funny.

That's good - I wonder if they would have addressed it had the forums/blogs not kicked up an almighty fuss.

Not a chance. There was a chance they wouldn't have fixed it even with the backlash.

My beauty was 1 hour from being collected by TNT before I heard the news. Typing on it now. :D It's brilliant.

Lovely bits of kit :) I found after 5 battery cycles (not full discharge / recharge) doing a battery calabration helped the amount remaining indicators accuracy greatly

Really impressed with it to be honest, amazing little machine.

Anyone know what way the iPod rebate system works? I've filled in something online, now I have to send off a physical form with the details of the MacBook Pro and iPod. But do they require anything from the iPod (cut out packaging etc)? I'm hoping to get it sold as my iPhone fulfills my MP3 needs.

Just picked up a 13" MBP my self last weekend, loving it so far, first mac :)

I sent my rebate off yesterday, unfortunately you need to open the iPod and cut out the small barcode that you can see on the bottom of the case. It's kind of annoying as I'm also reselling mine.

Cheers, Eddie. Nice Mac to be starting with. :p

I treated myself to an Intel SSD in celebration of the firmware update. Apple must have knew they were 1 hour away from losing my custom. ;)

I'm looking at SSDs now too - Intel bit out my price range though. Is the Falcon (128GB) still the next best one out there? Anyone with a MBP got one in?

Really pleased they fixed this and the benchmarks posted by others show quite an improvement :)
