THE MAGNIFICENT 7: BIG DISCOUNTS ON GRAPHICS CARDS!!

I see people have been having a go at you about dust, I have issues with dust as well

Anyway point of my reply, as I’ve already mentioned I’m thinking about building a matx/itx pc. How easy is the prodigy mitx build in? Would you recommend using a full size gpu or get the “mini” model?

Is there any other itx case you or anyone else can recommend?

I found it not too bad to build in but obviously space for your hands is limited so it's prudent to build as much as possible outside the case.

For mine I took the DVD drive cage out to allow a Corsair H100i AIO water cooler to deal with the CPU which certainly cuts down on noise and dust :p

I found cable management a right pain in the backside and gave up when the cables stopped rattling on the fans. I'd say a modular PSU is a must as well to limit the amount of cables in the case.

I also opted for an M2 SSD which went on the back of the motherboard which was a nice space saver too.

This machine was only built to make going to LANs more manageable so if course I've not been to one in a year now :p

As for graphics card size? I've used full size both times I've dropped a card in. No problem to fit it in as the case is bigger than it looks and the way the motherboard sits the GFX card suits on the edge of the case.

I can't remember my board layout but this might limit what you can use as a sound card but I'd need to take a look inside to confirm that.

I highly recommend the case however. Comes in funky colours and you can buy different side panels and possibly front panels to make it look funny!

I'm a bit confused by all the people saying they're going for consoles (or sticking with consoles they already have) instead of buying a 1080, 1080 Ti, 2080, or 2080 Ti. I agree that prices are crazy right now but those cards are also significantly more powerful than current consoles. I could understand if people were shunning RX 580s and GTX 1060s in favour of consoles, since that's probably a more direct comparison.

The only games I'd be happy playing with a controller are either couch Steam games, most of which run reasonably on my insanely crap GT 430, or Nintendo games (and I don't even have a Wii U let alone a Switch, so that tells you how long it's been since I've played a Zelda game :D). The only other game I can think of that I've played on console recently is GTA V on my Xbox 360, and that's only because the PC version is always stupidly late. I love my complicated RPGs and FPS games so I need my mouse and keyboard! :)
I play everything with a controller. Even typing games :p

No, seriously, I don't do competitive FPS so the comfort benefits of a controller far outweigh (for me) the precision of a mouse.

This is why I wont buy from CEX online - I saw my local store had a 1070 listed so thought I'd go and take a look at it, I dont like the idea of buying 2nd hand blind. This just goes to reaffirm that. It looks like it has had coke spilled on it. Imagine trying to return that to them if it arrived in the post like that. They would try and claim you did it. I'm just destined to play my new build with IG, or just stick to the PS4 until things calm down.

Hey guys been a member of OCUK forums for years, and an OCUK customer since the year dot. Are all the codes gone now? I'd assume so as the post is a few days old. The price on the 1080Ti's is amazing, really thinking of getting one. Let me know if it's happening, cheers :)

They are all gone already, a day after the post has been created. I mean for the 1080Ti, i don't know the rest. I was looking for that card as well.

We're not sure what is what though atm, nVidia may have split the gaming/mining line-up with a little luck with Ampere/Turing...
Makes sense that Turing would be a compute heavy card considering the name so may actually be a new line in Workstation cards rather than pure gaming cards. Which could make them great for mining it's true, but could also mean they might have cut back features making them not so good for gaming. And then gaming cards could remain cheaper.

Sadly that's not really possible. Four years or so ago mining on Nvidia cards wasn't even viable as they lagged so far behind AMD in the compute area's the SHA256/Scrypt miners used, so what happened? New algorithms emerged and new coins that supported or even favoured Nvidia cards, those coins then rose in value as the market stabilized. So if Nvidia do try and make a gaming card architecture that sucks at current mining then after a few months people we would just see new coins/algos that work well on it and we'd be back to square one.
