Fellaini is playing a more limited role now, which means he's more effective. If he's always drifting forward he'll always be out of position. He's done OK so far.

Ultimately though, he's not a natural DM, he doesn't read the game that way, so good players will get past him without too much trouble.

2 games where he hasn't given the opposition a goal or elbowed anyone and suddenly he's a key player according to our manager and been fantastic according to some on here.

Baffling.

Carrick, Herrera or Schweinstiger would be able to perform the role as well if not a hell of a lot better.

They should pack him off to Moyes at Sunderland

They should pack him off to Moyes at Sunderland

If only it was that easy, Sunderland are probably not willing to pay his wages (given that he would probably be the best paid player by far in their team), and why would Fellaini want to move from a top 4 hopeful to a team thats most likely to be in a relegation fight come the end of the season

We would probably have to give him away also in regards to transfer fee, I doubt the board would be willing to wright off the best part of £10m if not more (he cost nearly £30m 2 summers ago, so there is probably ~£15-20m of sale value on his contract, and currently Utd would be lucky to get £10m this close to the end of the window)

Above based on Utd's need to sell probably slightly more than Sunderland's need to buy him inparticular.....even if Fellaini and JM could be convinced.

I wouldn't be sad to see him go but I don't think Utd will sell him. There is still uncertainty in midfield and until that is not resolved fellaini is staying.

Wonders where Carrick is going to fit in given that JM convinced him to sign an extention - going to come in for big games , and maybe get a sub appearance this weekend?

I really hope that the team we are playing now is not the team we will ultimately focus on. I think if we play our best XI it will include smalling instead of Blind, Carrick/Schneiderlin instead of Fellaini and Mkhrtaryan instead of Rooney.

Kind of hoping that Rooney is being given just enough rope to hang himself at the moment.

I don't mind Blind as a centre-back. Reads the game as well and has good distribution.

Against most teams he is pretty good but sometimes he gets found out in a straight forward defensive way. He isn't very tall or powerful so tends to come up short when you need someone to mix it up.

As long as carrick isn't in defence, or midfield. Schneiderlin didn't show anything that makes me think he is a 30 million pound player last season. He didn't even look like a good footballer.

I never saw him tearing it up before he joined Utd either. He's already of age he should be bossing it. He isn't a prospect as we now consider them.

It's just a bad buy.

Here's hoping to Mkhitaryan starting RM, Mata CAM and Rooney being dropped.

This is a strange feeling; one I've not felt for a while...I'm looking forward to watching United (and Pogba) play!
