Most teams never win anything, is it really that bad? Personally I would rather support a club that has only fleeting moments of victory over some oil-soaked commercial juggernaut duking it out as the playthings of foreign nation-states.
It's not the end of the world but it would be a bit sad. Most clubs have never had the global stature we currently have.
Ineos won't completely overwrite Manchester United the way Abu Dhabi have with City. I'm hardly excited about the prospect of Ineos but it's definitely the best of the three options. At least Ratcliffe genuinely seems to have some interest in the club. Glazers just see it as a piggybank to milk until they've destroyed it completely and Qatar just want to sportswash the atrocities carried out by their regime. Look at PSG, what soul does that club have? The managers are just playthings for the Qataris and are tossed out in a second. Players are bought because they make Qatar look good, not because they are needed by the team.
Ultimately we don't know what INEOS are planning. If they'd come out with clear plans for the debt and investment, I would be more on board, but it's been fairly quiet so far - which is understandable I suppose. They don't have to win fans over as the Glazers are the only thing that matters currently.
If INEOS appoint good football operators (unlike Woodward), then it could be a good balance overall.
