Just astonishing the difference between Onana and DDG. DDG would have been standing there, telling players to push up before he lumped a random ball up the pitch. Onana picked some cracking passes here. Hes going to make a huge difference to us and how we can play.

Turns out you can't link to reddit on here. You'll just have to imagine some amazing passing.

A lot is being made of him shouting at Maguire for poor defending too - I don't have a problem with that at all.

The biggest issue with Maguire is that he's become a hate figure for some of our own fans. It just creates a negative atmosphere.

Not all his fault of course, but it's not an ideal situation. Hopefully a deal can be struck with West Ham for around £30m or so.

you mean over the rape allegations?

Yes, he was also charged in the US was he not?

I think the reality of football is that these things can be forgotten by people quite easily. I have seen people who were delighted Ronaldo returned, saying they don't want Greenwood anywhere near the club ever again.

Obviously in both cases there is some ambiguity.

Be interesting to see where everyone stands on Greenwood. Set up a straw poll.
I’m in the loan/reassess. Morals aside, he’s not played competitively for 18 months so who knows where he is at

Good idea. I am the same really, I do have major reservations but I am not completely against him having another chance under the right circumstances.

Either way I'm done, I'm not debating with someone who thinks this is acceptable.

I understand people will have emotional reactions to this, but nowhere has fez said or even implied it's acceptable. There are no morals in football - I doubt many people would disagree with this. The FA are happily waving through owners from countries where certain groups of people are persecuted. Doesn't bother them one bit. I remember when the Newcastle takeover happened, one of their LGBT supporter groups popped up trying to support the Saudi takeover. :o

All I would say is that people are complicated, the case isn't necessarily black and white. If the recording and accusations are enough for you to despise him without considering any possible mitigating factors, then fair enough - I wouldn't blame you.

I really don't understand the point you're trying to make with the whole there are no morals in football. I would hope Manchester United, the club I support, can make the right decision and not use historical bad decisions to justify making another of their own.

We just had a World Cup in a country where homosexuality is punishable by death (it's rarely ever enforced, but still). The very same country that want to buy our club.

When did it happen again? 3 years ago? UTD should just play him, the fans are going to have to get over it i suppose. He'll have some nasty chants sung when in rival stadiums, pretty standard. But how long should he pay for what happened, 3 years? 5? never play again?

Some people would prefer he never plays again, at any level.

It's a very unusual and unpleasant situation, but the club statement reads to me like they are lining up mitigating factors:

- This has drawn on extensive evidence and context not in the public domain, and we have heard from numerous people with direct involvement or knowledge of the case.

So they are suggesting there is some context that would mitigate or explain his actions somewhat. Maybe there is, we don't know. Of course, nothing would ever justify it.

- We also have responsibilities to Mason as an employee, as a young person who has been with the club since the age of seven, and as a new father with a partner.

They will clearly try and argue he's had a difficult upbringing and has been mentally troubled, which has led to this happening.

The statement is really laying the groundwork for his reintegration in the squad, they could have just said very little, it's quite lengthy.

I'm sure they will be carefully monitoring social media tonight. I wouldn't say it will definitely happen, if the Man Utd women's team came out in objection that would make it almost impossible.

I know the audio recording is in the public domain and adds a level of complexity, but why did she not stop supporting the club when we brought back Ronaldo?

It just strikes me as someone jumping on the bandwagon.
