The Manchester United Club Thread **Sponsored by Comedy Central**

I know this is an easy dig but im going to do it anyway...he doesnt win enough in the air to be considered one of the best cbs in the league imo.
He is a proper leader on the pitch, actually has some football intelligence and knows how to organise a defence. On form last season he was up there, had a good partnership with Varane. The whole defensive unit with Shaw, Varane, Martinez and Dalot/AWB actually worked.

This season we just crumple like a wet paper bag at the first sniff of a counter, organisation is dreadful. Slabhead saved us from humiliation at the weekend by virtue of his ability to insert himself between the ball and goal at the right times....which admittedly he is fairly good at.

At this point I just can't get too excited or annoyed. Players at United just have no respect for the club or professionalism. Its so telling how little effort we put in every game. Newcastle have got a threadbare team who were dead on their feet mid-week vs PSG. We made them look like a well rested team.

The team still needs open heart surgery to quote Rangnick. The massive difference between the have and the have nots in the PL is effort levels. We clearly have a decent bunch of players because they came 3rd last season. We weren't great at times but we still came 3rd. I wouldn't say that even then our players were busting a gut. Now the likes of Rashford are back to their sulky best.

Too much of the club is happy with mediocrity. Its like they get to a certain level and just assume that they can coast. Then they coast and things turn sour and they just double down on it.

What I’ve been saying for years is that Man Utd are buying the wrong players. The club wants top tier players and the fans expect these top tier players to sign. Unfortunately those sort of players won’t touch Man Utd with a barge pole - unless they have the wrong sort of motivation. Throw enough cash and some players will move for it. Unfortunately if you sign players for that sort of reason they are far less likely to have the hunger needed.

The issue that Man Utd have had under manager after manager is a lack of hunger from players. They are not going to sign the best players at their peak because of those players are hungry to win things they will go elsewhere.

The club needs to looking elsewhere and signing hungry up and coming players. They need to do a lot of it and they get shot of the apathetic players they have. Drop the fantasy idea of signing players like Jude Bellingham. That isn’t going to happen until the team culture changes. Unfortunately this is going to mean writing off a lot of money because pretty much every player at the club is worth less than they were signed for.

I'm sure there is some opposition (Sancho being the most likely) But suggesting it is 50% and they in fact have the sources to do a poll is so hilariously made up.

Same story since Van Gaal with you lot, he doesnt have long left unfortuantely - which players have been around since those days?

Quite a few stories have started now about dressing room unrest - given the dire performances there must be some truth to it, but yes, no way they can know it's 50% :p

Given the nature of the club and the bad players we have, I think ETH's days are numbered.

I suspect it's Sancho (obvious), Varane, Martial, Rashford, primarily... we know Maguire wasn't happy losing the captaincy but I doubt he'd actively try and cause problems, he's one of the few players making an effort.

All well and good wanting ANOTHER fresh start, but who's available? More to the point, who on earth would want it? The jobs becoming an ever more toxic poison chalice.

Expect it’s Rashford, Martial and Sancho predominantly. Rashford deflection and Martial going to Martial. I wish they would all just sod off. If we start another manager cycle, I think I’m going to have a break for a season or something. These players are just… urgh.

I don't think it matters right now. The season is almost certainly a write-off and things are likely to get worse.

We're just going to have to wait for Ratcliffe to come in and see what he wants to do.

ETH is not going to suddenly get these lazy players on side, so results will continue as they are... in my view he should stick these dissenting players in the reserves and just use the youth team. If they are giving 100% then the likes of Bruno can carry them to some wins, for sure.

If we have to sit through another game of Rashford and Martial wandering around aimlessly, making no effort, then I despair.

Sets such a bad precedent though. Don't like your club or your manager? Throw a few dissenting remarks about on social media, get benched then wait for the oil barons to come sniffing.

I am surprised United are even 7th in the league.

Half as many goals (!) as Brighton or Newcastle, top scorer would probably not get in the top 20 scorers in the league, nowhere in terms of clean sheets or assists, calamitous goalkeeper who must make United fans more nervous than Barthez, squad is all over the place and most of them don't look like they give a flying one.

It's just a mess from start to finish.

Yet doesn't take into account the massive injury crisis we have. We haven't played a consistent back 4 or midfield since the beginning of the season.

The team we have first 11 is actually pretty good. We just need them all fit and playing together.

Man United also needs a reset and remove the bad egg players from the team. Their needs to be a whole culture reset.

You need discipline in the workplace imo. All the best teams across all forms of sport have been successful because of this.

Injuries are no longer an excuse, other teams have equally bad injury problems and are still playing well.

I wish it was as simple as injuries, but it's really not.

Spurs lost a load of games on the bounce because of theirs and arguably they are 4 points up that they shouldn't have. Newcastle are only 2 points above us and their injury crisis has only just begun. We have had one since August.

A lot of clickbait lazy journalism because anything negative towards United gets a click. You only have to look at AFTV. Now they are doing well the channel is basically dead!

Look at the performances though, Newcastle have half the squad out injured and played us off the park. They should have won away at PSG too. Every team has form issues, even Man City look off the boil.

... but we are something else. One utterly terrible performance after another. This has been going on for months now.

A few weeks ago you said things would improve when the full backs return, Shaw and AWB are back - and we're as bad as ever.

Injuries at this point are nothing more than an excuse.

FBs were back, but not playing or stuck in CB because of injuries or some other reasons we just don't understand.

Performances are dire, but then they have been on average like that for a decade. All stems back to that game back in the Moyes era for me, where we had like a record number of crosses into the box with no goals - clinical, precise and belief in front of goal has slowly infected the entire team. We have a squad of non-believers, mercenaries and retirement home fodder.
