I never said I wanted him as a first choice start but he seems more than capable of being a squad player for that RCB role.

Maybe we're missing something here but you did say like man city where he plays in midfield... he hasn't the skills or abilities to do either of the aspects of that role. He ahs the weakness on the defensive side of being too bloody slow and he can't do the midfield side. He's a classic stalwart defender who has a passing range - Yes he can pick a pass but that should not to be misunderstood as the ability to pass quickly and instinctively.

He was too class at times last season. But why did we sign him up for so long? I recall moaning about this when we signed him.

Real Madrid knew he was good for another season tops. I think Casemiro knew that as well.

In fact, I think most neutrals also could see that.

Team news.
The good - Luke Shaw is available. Onana apparently also fit
The bad - Mount out for a month, Eriksen out, Casemiro out, Hojlund 50:50. That leaves us a midfield option of McSauce,Amrabat or Mainoo.
Gonna be another tough Sunday afternoon.

Big 14 days for ten Hag. I think it will determine if he stays or goes. Chelsea, Bayern, Bournemouth and Liverpool. I think he has to show a more robust way of playing. The shots United concede against almost every team that comes to play (vs low block/counter) is very concerning and it stems from his shift to playing one holding player and giving Bruno and McTominay licence to attack. We have seldom any control in midfield and proclaiming young Mainoo as the saviour is just pure folly. If he doesn't play Amrabat, Mainoo and Bruno in the next game then I fear he will start to lose more of the fans. He also has to drop Marcus and Martial. The lack of effort from those two was tant amount to giving the manager and the fans the "finger".

Whilst I'm not for advocating his removal. He appears on the verge of having lost the plot. His interviews this season have been very different to last season. The noise around the Sancho and now Varane issues is eroding of his authority and some of his in game decision making has been questionable. We are yet to see a convincing performance this season which is probably the biggest issue.

The Varane situation has kinda passed me by... Isn't he injured? Or has ETH fallen out with another expensive player resulting in them not playing?

It's incredibly damning. Our next 10 or so games are quite tough, it could get very ugly.

The team do not look like they're being coached.

At this point I just can't get too excited or annoyed. Players at United just have no respect for the club or professionalism. Its so telling how little effort we put in every game. Newcastle have got a threadbare team who were dead on their feet mid-week vs PSG. We made them look like a well rested team.

The team still needs open heart surgery to quote Rangnick. The massive difference between the have and the have nots in the PL is effort levels. We clearly have a decent bunch of players because they came 3rd last season. We weren't great at times but we still came 3rd. I wouldn't say that even then our players were busting a gut. Now the likes of Rashford are back to their sulky best.

Too much of the club is happy with mediocrity. Its like they get to a certain level and just assume that they can coast. Then they coast and things turn sour and they just double down on it.

I think EtH will be off after Christmas, perhaps before. I haven't watched all or even most of our games this season but I haven't watched a single one where we have been good. Not a single one. Ten Hag has spent poorly and ultimately the buck stops with the manager. As I have said a number of times. The club is rotten but until thats fixed there is no place for a manager who isn't getting a tune out of his players. Nothing suggests this rot at the club will be cut out in time for him to save his job.

Who knows how he would have got on at a different club but it is what it is and United, despite league position and general results have been awful this season.

Rangnick was absolutely spot on, yet people just mocked him. He may not have been a great manager, but he was clearly disturbed by what he saw within the club - and he knows his stuff.

All that aside though, I grow less and less convinced by ETH, he looks completely out of his depth. It's such a pity as I thought he would be a great appointment, finally we got a manager who was on an upward trajectory, but it's been largely quite poor and is only getting worse.

I am just hoping that Ratcliffe will tear up everything and try to start from scratch. New sporting people, get rid of the dodgy players, invest in the right areas. The Glazers could still mess everything up, but hopefully not.

I think that every manager that comes through United is disturbed by what they have seen. The difference is that as a professional manager with expectations of a continued career in management you don't tend to be as candid. Rangnick didn't give a ****. He was happy to say what need to be said with the assumption that he would probably be able to make some of the necessary decisions going forwards or it wouldn't really cause issues in his career going forwards.

Just listening to the G.Nev podcast and looking at the UTD fixtures. You have a really difficult run over the next 6/7 games. Not looking great

Meh, hasn't looked great all season. Perhaps results will start to reflect performances. Something has to give. Even if EtH stays, someone needs to take transfers out of his hands. I like the look of Hojlund but apart from him and Martinez and think the rest have been a waste of money.

You really think Martinez has looked anything other then unreliable and average? I get he snaps into people but I'm not sure he can be seen as value for money.

He was fantastic last season. This season hes been a liability and injured a huge amount. Last season he was easily one of the best CBs in the league.
