Funnily enough the same thing happened with Sir Matt Busby too. I wasn’t around back then but I remember reading several articles and stories about how his presence once he retired was more of a hindrance than a help.
Reading stories about how Liverpool treated Shankly after he retired seem harsh when you read them, but it got to a point that he still tried to 'interfere' with the day to day running of the team. Tbh you can see ferguson being the same (hi Ronaldo signing), should have been a clean break for all involved.

Honestly the money isn't the issue. The issue for Man Utd is him hanging around.
The only winner left at the club.

I doubt club pressure will change with him gone but it probably is a good move. Probably.

End of an era.

Start of a new mid-table/relegation era

I am going to my 1st game of the season this weekend....... will be interested to see what kind of reception the team get.
Have to say i got lucky with the game i went to see...... whilst i would not say back to their best, the 2nd half performance especially was as good as i have seen them play in a while.

other than some argy bargy in the lift leaving the stand where a group of women thought they were gods gift and tried to queue jump and who went off on one when someone blocked them getting in the lift (and even accused the fella of assault! - it wasnt) it was a great day out .
