Just watched the interview with Neville, good stuff

Not expecting too much this Sunday but let's see, wondering what will happen with Garnacho.
Just watched this and thought it was a really good interview, he's well aware of us fence-sitters/been here beforers.

Liked his answer to Rashford and Casemiro living it up, although will he be in Rashford's bad books now? What happens when the commercial guys force him to play Rashford?

Very detailed answers, we already know more about this plan than we ever did with EtH.

He seems to be well aware of what he's got himself into so let's see what happens.

Are you just making up stuff now, what commercial guys? Why would they force him to play Rashford but not Ronaldo?

Well, Ronaldo was partly bought for commercial reasons wasn't he? It's a huge part of the club.

The Rashford thing is partly made up but it is a feeling amongst a lot of/some fans. Amorim stated how many departments there are at United, it's not just a team to manage. The commercial/PR/media teams are undoubtedly part of the entire thing. Who knows quite how much influence they have but I do believe the conspiracy to some degree!

And the entire footballing structure has changed since then. If the commercial team was in charge then Ronaldo wouldn't have been dropped to the bench and sold, simple as that.

No, it's completely made up. Don't pretend you've got some source at the club that is feeding you this.

I think the next 40 days or so are going to be a real challenge.

We have games every 3-4 days and minimal training time. Although competitive games are certainly going to shine a spotlight on certain players who are falling short...

I don't really mind about results as long as we can start to see what he is trying to teach them. We're very lucky this season insofar as pretty much everyone is having a bit of a **** season. A few wins could take you up to near top 4 or a few losses could see you down near the bottom. Either way, the league position isn't super important if everyone is all over the place as well and there aren't big gaps between all the positions.

I think that he will end up giving some of the academy players a bit of a go if the senior players show they haven't got the energy and bite he needs.

I agree, with the exception of Liverpool there is no consistency anywhere in the league, and they'll probably have a wobble at some stage. I think he's got to find the players best suited to each position, if they need to come from the academy, so be it.

I do think the starting 11 in the Ipswich game was well short of our strongest line-up. Mainoo, Martinez, Shaw and Ugarte offer far more quality and energy than the likes of Eriksen, Evans and Casemiro. Once Yoro is settled I think he'll be a great player going forward, but he's still young of course.

Garnacho I'm a bit worried about, I don't think he can play CAM or wing back. Rashford certainly can't so it'll be striker or nothing for him.

I cant see how we can get through the rest of the season without a left footed left wing back and someone who knows what the nets for. Shaw cant do wingback now on a regular basis, i think LCB is his future.

If the rumours are true and there is no money to spend without selling, i cant see how we can finish top 6. Its all about hobbling through to summer and the club getting used to this new philosophy of 3-4-3. We have totally wasted a season here by keeping ETH on, every man and his dog except the decision makers at the club thought it was a bad idea and would never end well. I had hoped INEOS would make better decisions than the Glazers, lets hope Amorim is the start of the turnaround.

He's going through a bad patch no doubt and he's very emotional. For sure he doesn't look like a wing back but he played more centrally in the u-18s. However his decision making is really immature which is not what you need in your no.10 positions. He might need a spell on the bench next to Rashford :). Ste Howson did quite a good video today about 3 players who will thrive and three who might struggle - he had Garnacho as a struggler.

I'm almost done with Shaw - I only see him as LCB if Martinez isn't fit. I wouldn't even think of him at LWB. Malacia could play that role or even Mazraoui but not Dalot please. The consensus seems to be that our first 11 will be something like.

Onana
Martinez - De Light - Yoro
Malacia - Mainoo - Ugarte - Mazraoui
Fernandes - Amad
Hoylund

I think we have back ups for some positions but I can't see roles for Eriksen, Casemiro, Zirkzee, Rashford or Antony.
Shaw, Mount, Dalot , Malacia, Garnacho can all figure but we are short of CM and a strker (Hojlund is 50/50 for me)

I like that lineup. I assume Martinez and Malacia are on the left and Yoro and Mazraoui are on the right? Zirkzee seems to be out of the running already so guess he'll be back to Italy, on loan initially, and then a transfer back. Get a top striker to challenge Hojlund and some appropriate backup in lighter positions and that lineup looks promising. It does seem like we need to shift a lot of deadwood out to save on wages and generate some income to finance improvements. Do you keep Maguire as backup DC or shift him out and see if we can promote a youth player or sign a promising youngster?

Maguire is good cover for De Ligt but I expect to see Godwil Kukonki get some minutes this season. He's not yet 17 but he's frikkin huge and towers above the u-18s. We need physicality and athleticism and he has both. Chido Obi martin is also a man sized youth and looks promising. Jim Thwaites is a good two footed footballer but he needs to be on the protein shakes for a year or two. We have some nice talent but we really need a reliable goalscorer and a midfield beast to cover Mainoo and Ugarte.

Someone's got to pay for the cost of hiring Amorim, but raising ticket prices halfway through a seasons...?! catweazel strikes again!
