The Manchester United Club Thread **Sponsored by Comedy Central**

Depends if he is willing to take a bit of a haircut on his wages any any number of other factors. Does he want to play for England again? Does he still care about football? Will he be happy to basically sit in the reserves and run his contract down if United dig in? £30m is also chump change for anyone half decent these days. Theres always the allure with a player who has shown flashes of brilliance as well.
Haven't you been here before recently with Sancho, pretty much giving him away and subsidising his wages? I'd say Sancho would be a better acquisition for a team than Rashford and clubs weren't exactly queuing up to sign him.

Anyway, I quite like the lad so hope it works out for him somewhere. Bizarre he is talking of a fresh challenge yet the challenge to become one of the main players to turn around the fortunes of one of the worlds biggest clubs with the fame, the glory and the rewards to go with it is right in front of him.

I don't think it's beyond the bounds of possibility that is exactly the challenge he is referring to. Or at least that his meaning is either the challenge of a new club or the challenge of the new regime at this one.

I seem to be the only person in the world who thinks that though.

Obligation to buy of £20-25m and most sources seem to be saying that Chelsea are either pay the majority of his wages or he has taken a pay cut to join them. Thats a player than has 2 years left on his contract vs far too many on Rashfords.

Who knows how it will shake out but I wouldn't be surprised to see him go for £30m+

You haven't read the article then.

He awoke this morning to headlines detailing United’s desire to sell him. I ask Rashford if he’s staying or going? “For me, personally, I think I'm ready for a new challenge and the next steps.” All of his words were prefaced with respect for the club which has been his home for almost 20 years. “When I leave it's going to be ‘no hard feelings’. You’re not going to have any negative comments from me about Manchester United. That’s me as a person.

"If I know that a situation is already bad I'm not going to make it worse. I've seen how other players have left in the past and I don't want to be that person. When I leave I'll make a statement and it will be from me.” From the heart as he’ll always be a Red? “Yes! 100%. 100%.”

Watched a couple of videos regarding Ugarte's recent performances. He definitely offers something that other players don't, still room for improvement but seems like another good signing. Early days, mind, but a reasonable start.

Henry Winter has been speaking to the BBC's World Service this morning after his interview with Marcus Rashford made the headlines. The football writer says while everyone is moving in the same direction at Manchester United, Rashford is "moving towards the exit door".

He added: "He was very keen to emphasise his respect for Manchester United and he didn't want to leave with the door hanging off its hinges, almost like certain other players in the past that have left United.

"There's a lot of respect there. There's going to be a parting of the ways and I hope he gets a good send-off because he's done a lot for United."

I can't tell if Rashford doesn't give a **** or he is just thick. There is absolutely no need for him to have done any of this. He isn't going to be leaving on good terms. In large part due to the fact hes put in **** all effort for a few years now and then comes out with this. Its classic Rashford. His words are completely at odds with his actions.

Probably a bit of both.

There's no way he can start the next match now, he's basically just **** through Amorim's letterbox.

He didn't have to talk to anyone at all, especially just after he's been dropped and also the whole going abroad thing as well. It shows his character.

I think we as fans need to focus less on Rashford and more on the rest of the squad/club, not let the media dictate things. Easier said than done though.

United could win the quadruple and the media would still open the next day with "can you comment on the rumours that one of your players went to bed late last night".
Dropped for the game, left training early with a ‘temperature’ on Monday and then did that nonsense yesterday. The new challenge he speaks of should be proving himself under Amorim. Peak Rashford.

Exactly running away. Take someone like Maguire. He has stayed and fought for his position and had it just as bad as Rashford if not worse.

You can argue if he is good enough but you cannot doubt his commitment. Something Rashford could learn from.

lol Rashford isnt very good but he gets absolute pelters from everyone including a lot of United fans. The guys a human being and is probably sick of being made a scapegoat because you just aren't very good.
You're so far off the mark there it's funny.

I'd agree with the caveat that he doesn't help himself with his general demeanour, trips to nightclubs looking worse for wear and overseas trips. I get he's young etc etc. but he's got the rest of his life to enjoy it focus on football and make the most of his undoubted ability. Its what made me admire Ronaldo and Messi so much, the level they played at, their consistency and the length of time they have been at the top is staggering.

Yeah i'd be sick of being adored by the fans for years until I stop giving a **** and start walking around the pitch for months. I'd be fuming when the team wasn't doing very well and I was putting in less effort than all my teammates and people called me out on it. I'd be especially angry when they felt I should be working hard even when my form isn't great. God knows why they think my obscene salary means I should be an example to the rest of the team as well.

Because lets be fair here, all fans have complained about for the past few years is Rashford. Rashford, Rashford, Rashford. Not Maguire. Not Martial. Not any of the other players. Not the Glazers. Not the club management. Just poor old Marcus who turns up every week and gives it his all.

Do me a lemon.

Maybe 9 to 5 might give him reality check. Talent wise I still don't think he is as good as some people make him out to be at best with work rate could be very decent premier league player but not one that's on £300k+ no chance

We don't often agree but I think you have a point. If Man United weren't so crap in recent seasons Marcus Rashford would not receive the attention he does. He's quite often been one of our best players and that's saying something when you consider that he's not actually that good - at least in world terms. I don't think he deserves the attention he gets both positive and negative. The club is partly to blame because they made an average player into the poster child for a failing team and also decided to give him crazy wages. He's not a bad lad but the game has moved on and he's not had the motivation to adapt. Hopefully he gets a move and a respite from all the hate.

Hardly. Maguire can scrap with police in Greece, Antony can do what hes done yet somehow Rashford gets pelters. He's crap, always has been, just because some fans are finally realising it doesnt make it his fault.

Just look at redcafes forum. There is literally a thread called "Maguires redemption" and one above is "Manchester United view sidelining Marcus Rashford as key to cultural reboot"

United are garbage, they are stinking the place out week after week and Rashford is seemingly being used as a sacrificial lamb.
