The Manchester United Club Thread **Sponsored by Comedy Central**

When was the last time you enjoyed something about United or football in general??

The whole fanbase, some of the top managers in the world and almost the entire journalistic world think that Rangnick is a great appointment and yet here you are, trying to make out like hes some bum like Ole.

You genuinely baffle me.

Indeed, just one pointless post after another. Never answers questions either.

First member of staff joining under Rangnick is ex New York Red Bulls head coach Chris Armas. Interesting. Yet to be made official but sounding like it's done.

Ted Lasso vibes :p

Sascha Lense also joining, a sports psychologist.

Some talk that Jesse Marsch might join too (recently sacked RB Leipzig manager), although I'd be surprised with that one.

Ralf not wasting time:
75-year-old mentor Helmut Groß has come out of retirement to join Ralf Rangnick at Manchester United. Groß is the man who helped Rangnick develop his football philosophy when they worked together in the youth system at Stuttgart 30 years ago.

Cronyism at its finest!

Pick the best? No pick a 75 year old retiree who knew something 30 years ago for a final payday.

You've yet to offer your opinion on anything aside from complaining.

Regardless, apparently The Mirror jumped the gun and he lives in the UK anyway and is just doing some light consulting where appropriate.

But he’s not a coach, more someone who organises academies and club structure.

There are countless examples of people in their 70’s being top of their field.

Also, how many managers come in and hire a load of staff they don’t know? Virtually none.

We’re also in the middle of a season operating on short notice, many people are under contract, as Ralf himself said.

So as usual, you are just being spectacularly negative.

Name some 75 year olds who are top of their game in a sporting capacity.

Easy example - Sir Alex wasn’t doing too badly at 71. He’s not here in a sporting capacity, or perhaps any capacity at all, currently not clear.

Anyway, I'm not going to waste my time with you, others can feel free to jump in if they are bored :o

You still haven’t said who you’d want as our manager, and probably won’t. Much easier to just complain than offer any views.

So that's not 75. And that's the age he retired from his role, not the time he was given the job.

So you basically have no examples?

There are lots of examples. One relevant to this case is Dietrich Mateschitz, or Helmut Marko? 77/78 respectively. Running large successful global sports companies, of which Rangnick & co have been involved.

Want to answer my manager question now?

I see you ignored my post with relevant examples, as usual.

I wonder at what point we have to conclude you are just deliberately antagonising people. Although that ship seems to have sailed…

Indeed...

Manchester United can confirm that following PCR test confirmation of yesterday’s positive LFT Covid-19 cases among the first team staff and players, the decision has been taken to close down first team operations at the Carrington Training Complex for 24 hours, to minimise risk of any further infection.

Brighton having some covid problems too and we play them on Saturday.

I can see a lot of scheduling issues coming up...

I get the feeling United are trying to weasel out of it but the PL are insisting they play. Their flight down from Manchester to Luton planned for tomorrow morning. Be interesting to see if they arrive.

Perhaps a bit harsh, we might have a significant number of players/staff who are unavailable or unwell.

Great interview with Ralf about Martial. Snippet below but clearly not being pushed around/bowing to agents.

He is very likeable isn't he. :o

People also need to remember he's used to working at every level within a club, he's not really just here as a manager.

Pleased about that. I know he's well regarded but he's been here for a long time (under numerous bad spells) and I'd prefer more changes in the coaching department.

Numerous reports in the media that half the squad want to leave, the players dislike each other and the manager, the atmosphere couldn't be worse, and everything is going pear shaped.

Shambles.
