US: The Mandalorian

It's great to see Mando back and I am very grateful for that but after how strongly season 1 ended was anyone else a little disappointed with the opening episode of Season 2?

I love Timothy Oliphant (he played the slave turned sheriff, Cobb Vanth) but the way he portrayed it was as cheesy and hammy as hell with terrible dialogue and in that regard it felt like more of a filler episode. They also slightly abused Yoda's "human toddler" sounds and it was less natural-sounding (as much as can be expected in this context) and more in your face than before.

The special effect were of course amazing and it was cool as hell to see the sand people up close, but the quality of the writing was lacking and didn't meet my expectations after the huge success that was the first season.

Considering it was pretty much Raylan Givens in space nah, I loved it.

Only way they could have made it better is getting Walton Goggins as his frenemy that he used to mine with.

I've just watched the first episode of season 2 and quite enjoyed it. I did find the way the alien at the start a bit... off somehow? He just didn't look right, I'm not sure if it was janky CGI or something but it just felt a bit out of place. I'm being a bit nit-picky there though as the rest of the episode was gorgeous.

I found it a little frustrating from a story perspective, loading up a suicide-space-cow with explosives and detonating them once it was eaten was surely the most obvious thing to do from the get go?

I'm interested on seeing how things go with Boba Fett however.

Was that badly written too? :D

It was badly written, lots of plot holes in addition to the crappy dialogue. Felt more like a filler episode and certainly not like a usual opening episode... although the opening scene was awesome.

Still, at worst it's "decent" and it's Star Wars. Hopefully subsequent episodes are going to raise the game.

Still a lot better than the new movies if nothing else, and there's room to improve with some very interesting characters from the franchise coming into play.

Honestly seeing the Krayt Dragon was awesome, aside from the fact it seemed to be able to teleport despite being the size of a tower block.

Thought it was very good overall. Great seeing the X-Wings followed by all sorts of NOPE!

aaah the "switch to channel 2"followed by the sfoils opening amazing, the dive to the surface was so good! Nope on the Ralph mcquarrie spiders though, great alien homage where he eats the facehugger this time and omg those poor eggs lololol
