US: The Mandalorian

Full on speculation from one part of episode 2, so avoid if you don't want speculation or potential spoilers:

We see it. Now, the question...
WHO gets to ride it?
Common idea would be Mando; Din himself. However, if they are to bring Bo Katan back into play, they may need to have her ride it instead. And then of course, how would it go if Gorgu was the one that ends up riding?

I wish they would make the final footage as well illuminated as the end credit illustrations. It was far too dark to watch and catch things first time. Yet when you see the illustrations, it would have still been as good.

I had to laugh though...

"You'll never find the entrance yourself ..." which then cuts to a shot showing ridiculously massive entrance doorway.

As for the question above:

Bo Katan ... she knew the legend, is of the family who tamed it, now wields the sword, and having seen it, is the one pondering on what the legend fore tells. . Din I think seemed less bothered, if indeed he saw it when being rescued.

A lot of oooh and ahhh in this episode, and who knew he'd be such a good navigator :D

What did you watch on and what format? I watched it in HDR on OLED and whilst it was dark in the bits that are naturally meant to be dark, everything that was necessary to be lit was well detailed and lit just right. No problems with seeing what's where.

Disney plus on Apple TV 4K box on an lcd panel during a sunny morning.

I knew as I was watching it that the production team would have been making it on a perfect lit colour graded setup to just show enough … which your setup would likely closely match. (… and to be fair I’ve re-viewed scenes in a dark room and can see a whole hole lot more that time round. )

However step away from that fine line and into setups and viewing conditions like this morning and you quickly run out of ability to see the picture the way it was intended.

There were very similar comments to game of thrones scenes.

I think what makes it noticeable this time was thought that the artwork I could see well … so it made me wonder why not do it like that, achieve the same result on a wider range of viewing conditions.

It’s not really a big whinge, but just an observation.

Oh yeah shows like this in normal day lit rooms are just not meant to be. Definitely the kind of show to watch with the lights dimmed and curtains closed. Any brighter and it would lose the wow factor of the scene itself.

It was perfect on a winters night watching in the dark. The atmosphere was spot on.

What is with these Star Wars TV shows where the episodes just seem to randomly end and cut to black mid scene - Andor was worse but this is doing the same.

But that is a cliffhanger, what does the beast do, does it stay down there or pop up for a bit of a fight, does he recognise her from the past and want some kind of vengeance etc? That is a cliffhanger because it leaves you wanting to know what happens next.

I was watching on a good SDR display (New MacBook Air) and U.K. be honest, the dark scenes were too dark fortunately it was only a few seconds.

Otherwise a good episode.
