US: The Mandalorian

That is one LOOOooooooonnnnnngggg.... Intro before we hit the title card. :p
The main part of the episode didn't seem like it really went anywhere, it's again a repeat of Ep 1, where there's too much setup and not enough relevant progress. Potentially lots of ways it could go, but again, it's more of the B or even C story being given main story treatment without it actually being of interest to the viewer I would say, I certainly kept wondering when we get back to Mando or if the episode would finish and we wouldn't even get back to the Mando story line. Personally, think that's a bit of a mis-step; it would probably have been better if it was spread over two episodes or three so viewers have an interest in what this side story was about, as it is right now, right after last weeks Mythosaur reveal, really means no one is interested until that was resolved, and it wasn't even continued on right until the last moments of the episode, leaving viewers (well, certainly me) not caring one slightest bit about this episodes main story and wondering when we'd get back to get some continuation or resolving of the Mando situation first.
Personally, felt this one was mostly a bit of a bore fest. :o

I couldn't agree less lol

I love seeing more of the core galaxy and a lot less of Tatooine and other meh places

Next one looks back on track with the "United colours of Mandalore crew."

I got a feeling that bloke is gona be the cause of Palpatines return later in the timeline.
From the emphasis on the part about being able to take gene parts from different donors by Doctor Pershing, I suspect that might not be all of the story. Given they don't want to tread on the toes of the Sequel Trilogy and indeed "add" to it, I'm speculating that they're going to retcon Rey into a PART Skywalker. So the "Skywalker" line (Star Wars saga) continues in some fashion. So Rey's father, a clone of Palpatine, would be part Luke as well, hence by being the child of this clone, she is both a Palpatine AND Skywalker.

:: edit ::
Since "officially" Rey is just a Palpatine using the Skywalker name. This way, they get to keep the films as is, but reveal that she is indeed the daughter of Luke (or part of his clone at least).

Although that then brings up the questionnable situation of her and Ben... :p

^^^ I like that idea …

but why does she crank the dial on the mind machine, I got the impression it would just wipe his mind … and so lose the gene splicing knowledge which wouldn’t play into the theory above ?

Cranking it up may or may not kill him - one of the issues here is it was not explained well on screen. But I suspect it wasn't to really kill him, but to really change his view on things, to "convert" him from being pro New-Republic, to hating them, as killing him would be obviously a murder and being the only one there means she's the main suspect, not a good idea. But instead, really hurting him and making him hate the New Republic and helping the new rising order after.

Yes, Kane / security officer woman is definitely a wrong 'un.

I do hope Rey is in this somewhere, I'm one of a very few fans. Giving the backstory as you guys suggest would certainly improve the character although not redeem TLJ or ROS.

And incest in wincest :p

That manoeuvre has easily cemented its place in my top 3 manoeuvres ever done on a Sci-fi TV show. Top spot for me remains Adama's "Jump" from BSG. Picard had a number of cool moves too. Tactical awesomeness.

The Adama manoeuvre:

In the context of the episode, I think your conclusion makes the most sense.

I don't think it's a coincidence that we get a significant Imperial force attacking Kalevala, then we cut to the story about the doctor. I took the two stories together as quite a strong hint that someone wants to restart the cloning programme. With Gideon behind bars, are they hinting toward Thrawn?

I didn't think it was more than moth Gideons, or old empire faction, mopping up and deleting anyone that a part in the cloning program. That will be tied in to the crappy new trilogy

Brilliant opening to the episode.

Love a good starfight.
Never really cared much for them in the past but that one was excellent. The rest of the episode was...okay I suppose. As someone else said it was just too much setup. Plot threads like that need more going on around them throughout the episode imo.
