US: The Mandalorian

Are there Mandolorians why have turned to being mercenaries? Or working for Gideon? I'm sure this means we will see him again at some point. Will we actually see Thrawn though, possibly as a lead in to the Ahsoka series?

I can see a couple of scenarios:
1) There is a rogue element of Manalorians that are aligned with Thrawn/Gideon possibly the Manalorians that aligned with Darth Maul. (I also seem to remember a rogue sect of Mandos that were more like actual mercenaries.
2) That was a plant to put some heat on the Mandalorians from the Alliance.
3) Thrawn has some troops with Beskar armour. Remember that the Empire did have a huge quantity of it raided from Mandalore during/after the purge.

The direction and the special effects for the ships and the battles in this is off the scale for a TV show. You actually get a real sense of scale, and that shot of the X-wing sweeping in over the desert planet to find the covert was all sorts of epic.
Totally agree. They seemed to have nailed the ship movements in this series. I think the style started in Rogue One. Loved the sweep in by the X-wing. Even the corsair moved in a way that felt natural as you watched it.

How about a faction of Mandalorians (not the This Is The Way lot) have kidnapped Gideon as a powerplay for uniting Mandalore. Bo Katan wants to unite Mandalore, bringing the butcher of Mandalore himself to trial is a very powerful weapon. It may not be an Empire thing at all it might be an internal Mandalore thing.

Yeah ill just echo again the ships are really, really good. They nailed the sound too. The overall style is decent except it feels too new/clean, even some of the old dirty stuff looks new.. Its just not completely right.

The writing, acting and dialogue hah oh boy... lol

If we got Zeb then it cant be too far off to think Sabine cant be too far off, maybe shes leading the "bad" mandalorians. I hope so however unlikely. Its probably the rest of the night owls z zz zz

Have you seen the pics of the guy that has been cast to play Ezra Bridger? Bloody fantastic how close he looks to a older version of the character from Rebels. Looking forward to seeing Sabine and the rest of the crew but mostly Zeb (Woooo) and Chopper! Just seen it looks like Mary Elizabeth Winsted is rumoured to be cast as Hera!

It is primarily aimed at all ages and kid friendly.
Doesn’t excuse poor writing and that shouldn’t be used as an excuse.

Plenty of money shots.

Better episode than the previous 2.

Only really enjoying the ship battles and the little exchanges between Bo and the Armourer.

A whole planet and yet about 50 people fleeing to hide in the mountains.
Yeah that's what I thought also, this flourishing trading outpost, loads of high rise building etc, yet only a relatively small group of people running away from the shooting.

But in general I have been enjoying so far.

Well, that was...

1. Almost Supergirl series like with some of that clunky dialogue. And the "Stronger Together" bit. *winced hard on hearing it*
2. Cameo's galore; It almost didn't feel like an episode of The Mandalorian as it kept trying to take me out of it with their presence.
3. That recap... I never timed it, but it did go on for a bit.
4. The droids bar and their dialogue, wasn't a matter of being clunky, but it was certainly back to the "Stronger together" bit above again. I personally don't mind it, I did watch Supergirl after all, but it's more in the execution where it seems to not quite fit in with how The Mandalorian/Star Wars of before was done. It felt more like how it was done in Supergirl, which would fit in with that series style and how things normally run, but not really here.
5. And with that ending, this now raises the question of what's left for Grogu and Mando? Seems like they're not even needed, or they're going to need to get something interesting for them to do, because the route that could have been walked has been returned, and the previous route that could have gone was undone in Book of Boba Fett.

An acceptable episode. As @gettothechopper said, the money was easily seen here. Run of the mill (for The Mandalorian) episode. They really badly borked how some of the pacing goes here this season, but it's getting along. Just, it could have been a lot smoother and better.

definitely going for blade runner homage on the super battle droid chase, broken glass etc in a night neon street like zhora chase
and the "enhance" style bit when they are looking at the nano bots

also anyone think of boston dynamics video when din is kicking the battle droids? or more specifically the corridor crew one where they kick the robot and it attacks them :D

Jeez they did get some cameos for this one.

I started out disliking it but by the end it had got where it needed to, yes pacing issues.

It will be one of those episodes where some YouTube channel dissects every single frame for so called "easter eggs"

I liked the B1 battle droid, i love those poor guys lol He even did all the over the top hand gestures and arm movements...
The droid bar, the whole droids fitting into the universe, sentient thinking robots being treated as slaves, a working underclass... yeah well this just makes it all 100x weirder/woker
All the repurposed imperial equipment, clever/cool

So much to take in, a fairly good side-quest episode.

Didn't enjoy 90% of this weeks episode, which is very rare for me.

This was the worst side quest to date. The alien prince in the first few minutes, just felt weird with a teenage british voice actor. The Jack Black and Christopher LLoyd cameos were a waste of time and added nothing (except a bigger budget!!). The droids hanging out in a bar and having feelings was just weird. The whole city was just a CGI fest and didn't feel real at all. Last 5 minutes were back on track and the way they managed to handover the Dark Sabre was quite clever. Overall this is the worst episode of the season (maybe of all 3!) for me as it felt so contrived and out of place
