yes it was a response to your post but no need to spend 50...i paid about 17 for my first one.
i just wouldn't recommend a plastic razor ...maybe the plastic could cause your skin some irritation which you wouldn't get with a steel one and also build quality ? how long would it last ?

i have sensitive skin myself and honestly these razors have made a world of difference for me.....not sure how my post is coming across but its meant with the best intentions.

That's the code on my card! Thief! :p
.

Oops i didn't realise guv honest!! :o

Now that's a deal! :)

I managed to slice the top off a mole yesterday. Bled for a good half hour. Gotta get one of those stiptic things this weekend.

Yeah quite the bargain though on b&b they said something along the lines of any skin i slice off can be rendered as soap so im guessing it will be an interesting shave. :D

As for the mole well that's to be expected, serves the thing right for growing there, i like to think or my razor as a tool for keeping my skin on the straight and narrow, hair removal is just an additional bonus. ;)

If that is a response to my post, then all I can say is that i can't really see the point in spanking £50 on a razor if I am not sure if I am going to like it. :)

He does mean well though plastic is a bad move, here is what i suggest and it's my gentle giant in my collection plus it's quite cheap.

Any of the first bunch you see will be fine, the de89l is out of stock it's £1 more but you get a pattern on the chrome handle for a bit more grip nothing much though.

As for blades hmm personally id use derby blades, astras are smooth but are also very sharp if you really are easily irritated you could try super iridium blades, they're what i currently use, they are very sharp but also give me the least irritation, an alum block wouldn't hurt neither as it cuts down on irritation quite nicely just remember to rinse it off after a few minutes.

Here is an ideal pack for you, id use it in this order.

Derby,personna,crystal,astra,gillette,iridium and feathers last.

If you really want some good advice head onto badger & blade where they love this sort of thing.

A super gentle razor is the welshi though some find it too gentle anyway it comes with 5 treet blades and it's fairly cheap.

As for a good cream or soap have a look in superdrug they should have a blue tube of ingram for around £1.69 so dirt cheap and dead easy to lather up, you can get a cheap wilkinson sword brush for around £3-£4 remember to use a tiny bit of cream then put in a bit more if needed.

It also has a cooling menthol action to cool the skin and lanolin to soften it, you can buy trumpers or tobs later on if you enjoy it.

As for a post shave balm superdrug has bulldog balm on offer for £2.49 it's imo one of the best, all natural and no alcohol so no stinging it's saved my skin when starting out, again if you've used an alum block remember to rinse it off before using the blam or it'll hinder it.

Any other questions don't hesitate to ask i'll try and keep an eye on this thread.

Also to those that find blades harsh try running them lightly a couple times through some cork, it's meant to remove any coatings and burrs, some folk find it makes an amazing difference, polystyrene is also meant to work.

I see your point and it is valid, given that I spent £30 on a Merkur Futur, which was used just three times. I then moved to the Merkur HD34c, which is perfectt.

The whole point of DE shaving is that the razor itself is heavy, so that you don't need to apply any pressure. A proper razor is carefully balanced so you just drag it across the skin with little or no pressure and it'll do it's job.

Going the plastic route is directly the opposite.

All the '89' models from parker/muhle/ej etc use the same muhle 89 head, the ej just happens to be one of the better balanced and better finished, people on badger & blade are going mad for the de89l atm and fortunatley i have one.

It's a sweetheart of a razor with super iridium blades i easily get bbs top half and dfs around the neck as i always find that region awkward to get close as i find myself having to use pressure hence why im getting me a gem micromatic, harsh but it should do the job with less irritation provided im damed careful otherwise i'll wind up needing a transfusion. :D

Ooh that parker is damned cheap though yeah definitely go for that one but don't forget your derby blades and brush.

Got a reply to my email to Shaving Shack today. :) They expect a limited number of Merkur 34Cs to be made available to them on Monday. So I put in an order for the 10 Feather/Derby/Israeli blade pack, a Merkur 34C, a plastic travel case for the Merkur, Proraso Pre and Post shave cream, a pure Badger shaving brush, a shaving brush drip stand, Taylor of Old Bond St Shaving cream (sandalwood) and for the free gift I got another 30 Israeli blades. Well it was that or multivitamins. :p

So I'm hoping to have the stuff posted on Monday but from the email I got Tuesday despatch is a possiblity; I've been told that I've definitely been allocated one of the Merkurs they're expecting to get sometime on Monday. Hopefully will be in time for me to shave on Wednesday night for my job interview Thursday PM. :)

Gah! Tell me after the order is made why don't you? :p

What oil would you recommend? The Shaving Shack has three to choose from: Taylor of Old Bond St Pre-Shave Oil, Truefitt & Hill Luxury Pre Shave Oil or Musgo Real Pre Shave Oil.

Well a few months into using the Merkur I can positively say it's much better than any other fusion or whatever I've used before. Never get ANY irritation at all, shave is always clean most of the time. Definitely recommend one if you have sensitive skin/tough stubble.

i think i get a better shave with Fusion

Well i think your username is rather apt. :p

Im now heavy into this malarky, i have a gold futur and edwin jagger DE89L and will have me a gem micromatic soon, i can handle the futur easily which is meant to be quite aggressive so id imagine me and the gem will get on very well, they rip chunks out of lesser folk though it's all about having a light touch and not being afraid of the thing. ;)

Also got a best shavemac brush, very nice though i could do with a wider knot and shorter loft.
