The Marvels

Brie Larson turns on Disney...and gets dropped from future films (attacks fans along the way obv)

It seems "Girl Power" and DEI go out the window if it means you get less screen time...

Sounds like her career is following the "Zegler/Turd trajectory"

She does seem to be going all Linsay Lohan.

So I managed to talk my laddie into going to see this last night. He said it was actually OK and he hadn’t seen Wandavision or Ms. marvel either. I also found it quite entertaining and it had several genuinely funny moments. Imam Vellani carried the film for me though and even Brie was actually ok in this and she looked fantastic in that ball gown. A solid 6/10 and way better than Thor L&T.

It's bang average at best and aimed at totally the wrong people.

This for a film that cost over 300m is sheer financial folly.

But Disney will carry on blaming toxic male misogynists :p

I would agree that the film wasn’t bad but people that enjoyed the other Marvel films are undeniably ‘voting with their wallets’, whether:

(I) intentionally because of a dislike in direction as per some in this thread,

(II) in apathy towards ‘yet more (bland) superheroes’, or

(III) because ‘meh it’ll be on streaming soon’.

It's silly brainless action packed slapstick stuff
Not every movie has to have epic consequences and be deadly serious. In fact many brainless films have been very successful. I feel it doesn't deserve the level of hate its receiving and it's also abundantly clear those celebrating its failure haven't even seen it.

You are definitely right, there is room for all types of film.

But in this case, they aimed it at totally the wrong demographic. Marvel fans just don't want this. Hence nobody has gone to see it.

To make money, you have to know your audience. For instance, look how well the Barbie film did. It was aimed at the right audience.

Disney have totally lost sight of this. And calling us all toxic basement dwellers will only alienate people further.

What about it is aimed at the wrong demographic exactly?
Bland characters, bland storytelling, and as hard as is it for some folks to reconcile, people dont want all female superhero movies..The demographic its aimed at don't watch marvel movies, not a hard concept to grasp is it.

Everything wrong with current marvel can be summed up with a line from the movie..'Use your black girl magic'.
