The Marvels

Some more reviews, some of which maybe a little more negative than those glowing ones posted already, just for some balance.

Variety - "in “The Marvels,” the bits of absurd comedy tend to feel strained, because they clash with the movie’s mostly utilitarian tone."

Indiewire - C- - "This film actually attempts to be new and fresh but it’s all ripped away for more of the same. That “same”? It’s not working anymore, and if “The Marvels” shows us anything, it’s a fleeting glimpse of what the MCU could look like, if only it was superheroic enough to try."

NYPost - "Using a tried-and-true MCU tactic, the filmmakers attempt to cover up the many flaws throughout with a bandage of lunacy. There is no compelling character development to speak of, but don’t worry because there’s a planet called Aladna where everybody sings instead of talks."

The Irish Times - 1/5 - "It’s not just that it’s not very good. It is hard to watch in the sense that a tree is hard to defibrillate. This chaotic, ugly, incoherent picture barely seems intended for exhibition."

Telegraph - 1/5 - "'Higher, further, faster' ran the original Captain Marvel’s rousing tagline. “Have we reached the bottom yet?” would be an apt one for this."

The Guardian - 3/5 - "t is all, of course, entirely ridiculous, but presented with such likeable humour and brio, particularly the Marvels’ visit to a planet where everyone sings instead of speaks."

The Irish Times - 1/5 - "It’s not just that it’s not very good. It is hard to watch in the sense that a tree is hard to defibrillate. This chaotic, ugly, incoherent picture barely seems intended for exhibition."

Reading some reviews and watching the trailer, it looks like its going to bomb.
