The Matrix 4

HBOmax has some good stuff though.... and VPNs are useful for buying games without regional artificially inflated pricing :)

From what i've seen HBOMax does have a decent catalogue and adding some stuff next year that really does interest me. Might pick it up for a month, just need to fiddle with VPN on SmartTV and see if I can get the app installed ok.

I was tempted to go and see this at the cinema next week just to get out of the house more than anything else but based on comments here, not so sure now.

This sounds like one of those films that I'd be glad not to have paid and contributed to the cause.

More than happy to pay to see quality cinema, but this doesn't sound like it is.

3 out of 10.

Did you give it 3 for all the footage used from the original movies? :P

What a #### movie, no direction, terrible casting. It was so muddled up I spent half the time thinking about walking out then convincing myself that "it'll get good in a mo" which didn't happen.

Don't waste your money, go see something else.

Turned of after the 1 hour mark.
Loved the first movie as would be expected, I even liked the 2 and 3 for what they where.
However this one was just....boring. A few fights here and there but nothing happens of any consequence and the story just didn't make sense. I stuck it out an hour hoping something would grab my attention but there was just nothing. They made the agents, a force that was truly terrifying where you have to run or you die in the first movie completely pointless.

What really ground my gears was the whole setup of the film. It just felt like a love story set in a half assed Michael Bay movie. No grit, no attempt to make it feel like the world it was based on.
I mean they included computer pokemon and brought back literally my most hated character of the whole saga. Niobi.

The characters felt like comedians, either the writing was just bad or the casting, I'm sorry but Neil Patrick Harris was a terrible idea. He's great but he basically just played a slightly evil Barney.
Even a lot of Neos lines made me want to reach for the bucket. I know Kung Fu, again. Ergggggggh.

The whole premise of the ONE was that he could remake the Matrix as he saw fit, personally that line was never explored correctly after the 1st film and the Wachowski's awful writing is to blame.
I know the myth that they didn't write the first has been said to not be true, but given their accomplishments since, I'm starting to believe it's not to far from the truth.

It was so poor, the action and delivery was so hammy and off at times that it felt more like a spoof than a reboot. It didn't even feel like it was set in the same universe, it's odd though I couldn't tell if it was intentionally that weird until half way through the film when they just wrote off the whole plot driving the original trilogy.

Machine civil war? Humans having to fight for survival side by side the machines still choosing to honour the peace agreement. That sounds cool, here's a 5 second clip of it. Oh btw Zion was destroyed anyway along with one of the main characters you loved because he actually turned out to be incompetent, it's all about the power of love now.

I looked over to my friend during the ending scene laughing at what I was seeing and he was just sat there with his head in his hands, pretty much sums up the experience :D

Along side the rest of the "it's an homage" type stuff, did anyone else feel like the female vocal cover of Rage Against The Machines "Wake Up" just summed up the failures of the film perfectly - A poor copy which was far worse than the Original was.

EDIT - It was by Brass Against, whose female vocalist was arrested for peeing on the face of a fan at a gig :D

Thought the same

A female nod to the original. It was a tick in a box. There will come a time when people realise there is no box.

Well, the movie critic Chris Gore was saying this on post #422. Everything in Hollywood is a box ticking exercise. Another film, another sequel, another remake and they wonder how it turns out garbage.
