the new devin album is eh wtf?

really I don't get it, I like devin townsend band and ki (not syl really so much) but this has gone way over my head.

Devin is a legend. Very very good live too.

I don't like all of the DTP albums, but Epicloud is very good.

I have been finding a lot of bands recently which make me think... 'How have I never heard of these before!?!?!'
 
Need some band recommendations people.

My favourite band of all time is Tool, however in all my years I have failed to find another band similar which grabs my attention in the same way.

Gave Rishloo a little go, but as decent as they are, they are simply not on the same level imo.
 
There aren't many bands that sound like Tool so can only give loose recommendations...

Hurt - Vol. 1
Between the Buried and Me - Colors
Intronaut - Valley of Smoke (Toured heavily with Tool this year)
The End - Elementary
Coheed and Cambria - Any album
Mahumodo - Waves
Kylesa - Static Tensions
Burst - Lazarus Bird (Quite similar to Tool)

Yeh. As much as I try I cant seem to get into APC, just doesn't have the same feel as Tool, Maynards voice is still incredible though.

Opeth and Deftones are 2 great bands, still very dis similar from Tool imo.

Will give porcupine Tree and Earshot a go though :)

Anyone heard any rumours whether Tool will be touring again? Or playing anywhere in the UK?
 
Nope not heard anything about a UK tour. It's about time they released a new album aswell! Been too long since 10,000 Days.
I'd also consider listening to Gojira - From Mars to Sirius and Devin Townsend Presents Ziltoid the Omniscient if you haven't already.
 
Tool's bass player is in/was in a band called Peach which happen to sound like tool.

Some of earthtone9's stuff is a bit like Tool, also quicksand sound like Tool imo.

Awesome. Will check them out also.

New album would be brilliant. However it's by far my least favourite. Probably only 1 track on there I actually like.

Undertow - Incredible
Enema - Incredible
Lateralus - Rather good
10,000 days - Meh
