* The Metal Thread *

My friend linked me to a group called "Unfathomable Ruination" who he knows. Not to everyone's tastes but I thought I'd drop the name in in case anyone wants to take a gander.

Awesome. Will check them out also.

New album would be brilliant. However it's by far my least favourite. Probably only 1 track on there I actually like.

Undertow - Incredible
Enema - Incredible
Lateralus - Rather good
10,000 days - Meh

Great. Thanks mate!

There's always Karnivool as well.

Thats funny how different people like different albums as I'd rate Lateralus as the best, and probably one of my all time favorite albums, and 10,000 days as second then undertow and Enema as my least favorites. Having seen them live at OzzFest a few years back they rate as the single best live set I have ever seen as well.

I saw them there too and my mate, who'd seen them in Manchester, said as good as they were at Ozzfest when they have total control of a venue (like at Manchester) and can have their own stage setup they were mind blowing!

Really wish they'd tour the UK next year!

Likewise, Lateralus just blows all other albums that have ever or most likely will ever exist out the water in my mind. Fantastic and just like you closely followed by 10,000 days. I do so hope I get the chance to see them at some point. Please please come to the UK Tool? hehe

I forgot the awesomeness of Zakk Wylde for many years until this came on the other day! Good memories :)

Just checked and can't believe that was 2001 now...bloody hell

Each to their own i guess.

I can see why Lateralus is rated highly. The way all the tracks go together so seamlessly. If your a fan of Lateralus then I would recommend listing to Lateralus - The Holy Gift. Its basically Lateralus re-ordered into the Fibonacci sequence. Without going too deep there's a lot of strange time signatures hidden within the tracks that fall very oddly into the Fibonacci sequence when re-ordered.

I agree Lateralus is an amazing album, absolutely. But pretty much their whole sound changed between Enema and the release of it. Its strange to hear a Tool fan rate Lateralus above the previous 2 though. Enema is highly regarded as their best album. So many good tracks on the first 2 albums!

To name but a few:

Undertow -Sober, Prison Sex, Bottom
Enema - Push it, Stinkfist, Eulogy, Jimmy, H

All classics, but yeh, I really dislike 10,000 days, lol.

And to echo what others have said, please do come to the UK, Tool. I would die a happy man if I get to see them play at least once in my life.

Used to be a massive tool fan and still am really but I'd rate aenima and lateralus the same.

Undertow to me is far behind those two albums and 10,000 days grows on you but has too much rubbish on it.

I like opiate and rate it slightly higher than undertow.

Vicarious is probably the best song they've ever written and if the rest of 10,000 days matched it in quality it would be their best album. But you listen to that awesome opener then the album really struggles to get back on track after that and its rather dissapointing.

Jesus that was boring. Like a crap Slayer.

Riff was boring first time. You repeated it??!! Uh Ok.

Wait...........4 times???!!!! AND THEN ANOTHER 4 TIMES WITH A "SOLO" OVER IT? Kill me.
