* The Metal Thread *

Has anyone listened to Endgame yet? I was pleasantly surprised

Played it 3 times now - excellent although I'd love them to get a decent singer.
Most of the guitar solos are awesome.

ANTHRAX!! Thrash metal for the win. Been listening to Anthrax for a couple of months now and I love their older 80's/90's stuff!

How I love this band.
I was fortunate to see them quite a few times in the late 80's and their oedivgnikcufecin video (which I converted to DVD) still rates has one of the best live concerts I own.

Man Id give anything to have been able to have seen them in the 80's I really would :(

I've watched all the live dvd's I can get my hands on - Alive 2 is my favourite. I watched their oedivgnikcufecin video a few nights ago which is also awesome as you say :). I ordered a judge dread t shirt a few days ago too which arrived today :D

Wicked thread. Some awsome bands; Emperor, N-O-N, Dark Tranquility, Therapy? etc etc.. And some not so awesome :p

I have always been into the kind of music you just want to close your eyes to and your mind fills in all the gaps. The reality of seeing these **** in thier corpse paint and stud-band/leather combo (Immortal, anyone?) has a tendancy to make one wilt.

A few from my now playing list: (prepare for many an edit..)

...Apologies for the lack of power chords to start...

Now a decent American BM band of all things. Ignore the politics and enjoy the music:

If you ever wanted your black metal to sound a little more depressive, meet 'depressive, suicidal black metal'. Close your eyes and hide the razor blades.
(shocking quality sometimes but this is what bm is about eh).

WAKE UP

Crowbar; goosebumps time..

Please, if you ignore all of the above have a look out for Acid Bath:

And finally,
I cannot believe how many bands I had forgotten about over the last couple of decades collecting (and selling for 20p to pay the phone bill) until I stumbled upon Satan Stole My Teddybear A MUST READ.

Dimmu Borgir death metal? lol seriously?!

They were black metal, not really sure if I would call them that anymore though, latest album was balls!

Here's some black metal;

Death Metal;

I don't really like any modern black metal, the 90s is where it's at for that genre.

I actually linked one Dissection video but messed the link up so just slapped another Emperor code in there.

Well, the latest Dimmu album sucked compared to the older stuff which I was a fan of.

I love this cover of Metal Heart that Dimmu did though, it's pretty good.

Gotten into Zyklon a lot lately too, yes the band that has 2 Emperor members in it and the bassist/vocalist did Emperor's last live shows with them. :p
