I have been pre-occupied with Death all day today, they are brilliant, shame about Chuck though I read about that cancer ordeal a while back. :(

Yea, I understand the vocals are not your typical death metal style deep stuff, but I like em.

I do like that tho, apart from the cookie monsterness ;)

I don't like Decapitated all that much, but the drummer was excellent, he died in an accident sometime last year though. :(

These chaps are probably my favourite Death Metal band, although it's not all strictly Death Metal to be honest, nice and varied, anyway they are called Akercocke. :cool:

Edit: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dl9oM4f1xdQ - Watch that, it is quite funny! :D

Strapping Young Lad - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LeG-6bpeUkA

There are some more, but are a little lighter, want them listed too?

Edit: I saw & interviewed these unsigned bands the other night;

http://www.myspace.com/dragthelakeband - Drag the Lake, based in Nottingham

http://www.myspace.com/internalconflictband - Internal Conflict, based in Leicester

I don't know if you can download off their MySpace pages, if not, then I will have their songs up on my website soon (with their permission!)

Hahaha, Margaret. Gutted. (laughing at your name change, not Chuck's death).

Never know, might be the title of a song on Slayer's next offering ;)

Edit: At least you've reminded me to give my mate his 'Live in L.A.' Dvd back though.

Death is just awesome and it's one of the few death metal bands whose lyrics actually carry some weight and meaning. Nothing overly cryptic or abstract, but an honest reflection of a man's experiences and perceptions of life. Considering the circumstances of his death, Chuck Schulinder's lyrics on the album Human are haunting and beautiful at the same time.
