Nightwish were good until they got that new singer who is terrible.

Yup, they're very much a shadow of their former selves. However I suspect they have found fans to replace those they lost overall.

I'll admit the soprano valkyrie really understood how to bring dramatic gothic flair to their songs (and yes I did fancy the pants of her for that reason!). Songs like End of All Hope and others. Like Crowley in Good Omens, my car stereo seems to revert to playing Nightwish regardless of which CD is played!

I do think that they had explored enough of the genre to leave a legacy and one that the new singer simply can't reproduce.

Epica is a very different form of music and the dutch Simone never lets the passion flow in quite the same nordic fashion.

Lots of good music being released this quarter..

Song from Alter Bridge's new album:

The opening track to James Labrie's new CD (no that's not him at the start :D):

New song from Arjen's upcoming Star One album:

And finally Judgement Day from Allen/Lande's new album

Just wanted to say thanks to the poster who posted up the Testament - The New Order video on one of the first pages. Absolutely love that song now & the entire album that it's off is very good aswell, a very good listen indeed from that era.

Also thanks to the poster who posted the Onslaught - Welcome To Dying video, such a brilliant track and it's a shame that Onslaught were never really that popular either :(

Was supposed to be seeing Disturbed in New York the end of this month but they've cancelled the tour as lead singer has throat infection :(

I saw them about 4 times in the 80s but wasn't that impressed until about a month ago and I've been constantly playing their albums since then.

They have songs that Metallica would have made millions of pounds from.

Yep they do indeed... Welcome to Dying sounds a lot like the materiel off Master Of Puppets and the first time I listened to Welcome To Dying it reminded me of Welcome Home (Sanitarium), absolutely brilliant.

Twas me who posted the New Order link on youtube. Fantastic song and the album blows me away every time. I wish I had seem them back in the 80's christ I wasn't even born then :(

Shame the recording quality is so poor on their first couple of albums.

Oh and their Live in London they recorded I think in 2005 was fantastic. Hearing those old poor quality sounds brought to life live was fantastic - amazing setlist and the crowd were going mental!

I stand by what I said before which was that Alex Skolnik (their lead guitarist) is an absolute god.

Been listening to a lot of Dio again recently. I love his Sabbath stuff but I love the stuff he did in his own band more.
