I've never heard a decent band with a female lead except Suzi Quattro

Skunk Anansie are rather good and have a female lead singer

Anyone else here like metal bands with female leads? I like how the soft voice sort of complements the heavy instruments; any recommendations?

Listening to Nightwish at the moment, and saw a lesser known band, Zocalo, at a gig a few weeks back and they also had a female lead. Also like Lacuna Coil, although I haven't listened to much of their stuff.

She can't sing for toffee. She sounds grrreaaat on CD, sure, but live she's bloody awful.

One of the best old school bands.
Not a band I was crazy on when they came out but this last 2 weeks I can't get enough -

They are quality, listen to their older stuff, it amazes me that they werent given the recognition they deserve over most of the other bands of that era that became popular.

If you didn't know that before listening to them for the first time I doubt anyone would realise, she sounds like a man!!!

I think Rolo Tomassi have the best female vocalist in the metal genre. She has a really sweet 'clean' style and a vicious scream, it's brilliant. I'm sure i'll be shot down for this though.

Angela Gossow (Arch Enemy) is just really not good in my opinion.

If you say so, I just find it get's tiresome very quickly. It's only good for a few songs at a time, then I just wish she'd give it a rest. The more recent stuff in particular just doesn't sit right with me. Each to their own i suppose.

Grab their first and second albums - the recording quality is terrible but the music is fantastic.

Alex Skolnik is a god in my opinion.
