Dunno if im late to the party, but the new Ahab album, is some seriously refined chizle!

Their previous albums are good, but too heavy and dronny for me. I would say it sounds less funeral doom and more doom metal now, with a lot more clear vocals, which I always thought was the strong parts of the previous albums.

The new album "The Giant" seems really really refined and not as heavy, which to me makes it doomy but accessable.

^ Grace seems like a really decent song; Devin's quality of work is pretty astounding.
Also just found out that Epicloud comes in a deluxe edition which includes a 2nd disc of demo work. :D

 
Starting to like this album a bit more now I've decided to listen to it a few times. Still doesn't rank as highly as Undoing Ruin and maybe Deliver Us for me, nostalgic reasons will always prevent that though.

 
New Winterfylleth album is a definite grower. Paints a similar picture to late 90's era Enslaved but with an old English taint. Not liking it as much as Mercian Sphere but early days yet.

Going to be a great album.


With new Parkway Drive, and Coheed coming as well, its going to be a great couple of months
