Is it the same one in both pictures? It’s probably a 77mm cartridge case but he needs to measure the diameter to know what fitted inside. Although as it’s been turned into a vase it might be difficult.

The base diameter is 90mm including the lip, so the outside diameter of the cylinder excluding lip is 80mm. The length is 230mm. Both images are grom the same casing.
