** THE MOST IMPRESSIVE LAPTOP WE'VE SEEN YET - SAMSUNG G7 3D GAMING LAPTOP! **

Just for the heads up, overclockers never had this in stock, neither was it for sale at all, it never happened. Other places (including were i got it from) are OOS now too. Best get it when its going:)

Superb laptop though, it does everything, games (even the latest) play loverly. Love to have a go at 3D games though, like flatout 2, Crysis etc. Some games load up in "DX9" as DX11's not supported in all of them. its good this way though, because you get much better frames in DX9, and in 3D mode, it looks so different that you can't tell from DX11/DX9.

Tony

It wasnt? ive seen it on a few sites, obviously the official samsung one, for the same price, looks like a good buy, will it run skyrim in all its glory??:)

Hi joe,

Tried 3d/tridef tonight, and you load Tri-def 3d portal, and view movies, slides, and load games form here. Tridef "ignition" is were the games are detected, you can launch apps from there, or if they aren't listed, "add" them. Started with far cry 2, and when the game loads up, you can set 3D up from the onscreen panel that is loaded with the key num 0 button, and using numpad arrows to select.

From here there are loads of settings, from hig/low quality 3d (lower increses framerate) Depth/plane/ "Virtual" 3d (which isn't true 3d i don't think, but is for those with lower spec cards, as it increases frame rate. Got 45 frames in far cry 2 with 3D enabled, or thereabouts. I downloaded version 5.0 http://www.tridef.com/download/TriDef-3D-5.0.html

Tony you mention updating the TriDef software there, but did you have to buy a new activation for it ? Or did you just update right over it and it kept it activated as before ?. Also are you using the new 5.1 version that is currently available ?. Thanks

I updated from your link puratory!, wasn't awaye an update was available.

it says in the manual If TriDef 3D came bundled with your 3D monitor, or was pre-installed on your 3D notebook/PC, then activation is not usually required.

Just running the 5.1 update now and will let you know how it goes.

EDIT: Seems fine installing the 5.1 update and it is running and not asking to be activated or on a trial. I did notice in the start menu in the TriDef software list there is a buy and activate option there now, but I guess if you install the Samsung TriDef software from the Samsung CD first it auto activates it as an update. By the way dont run the Samsung SyncMaster OEM update there it will cause the TriDef to ask for activation, seems it is for Samsung monitors only that (I thought the laptop had one and tried the update guess it does not look at it that way . Thanks Tony..

Hey guys

I bought this laptop last week and I am very happy with it so far. I did a clean install a few days ago and everything seems to be ok. I do have a few questions though:

1 - internal SSD: I understand that you need to install the expresscache plugin in order to use the SSD (havent done that yet). Do I have to create a partition on the SSD first (there is none on it yet)?

2 - 3D glasses: Ive got a pair of shutter glasses from our Samsung TV ssg-3100gb. Ive been trying to pair them with the notebook but no success so far. I did as the instruction says, turn on BT, play a 3D movie fullscreen using Cyberlink Media Suite and press the button on the glasses. The screen shows a 3D picture like I can see it on our TV but the glasses wont pair...

Anyone got an idea?
thanks
Peter

SSD Cache - No, don't create a new partition on it. As far as I am aware it comes with a custom partition on it which the express cache needs, so if you wipe the partition you can't use express cache, although it has been posted somewhere a workaround to get it back. However, just leave it and install the driver to be safe.

thanks :)

I see there is another version on sale at other places 700G7C, It has the NVIDIA® Geforce® GTX675M / AMD Radeon™.
I guess this will give it that little extra power than the 700G7A??

They are about the same in graphics power it really depends on the game if it favours AMD or Nvidia.

I would pick the one that you like the GPU drivers of most AMD or Nvidia or if you play a certain game that favours either. Also if the Nvidia one is priced a lot more than the AMD one it will eb clear which one to go for then.

Great laptop I have one of the AMD 6970M versions.

Just a review I found on the internet for the Samsung Series 7 Gamer, done by what laptop July 2012. It won Editors Choice 17" gaming laptop.

ty77 you do realise the 700G7C is the Nvidia 675M model and is not 3D ? It is only 2D that model, the 7970M model if it ever appears will be the 3D model as with the current AMD 6970M model.

EDIT: these laptops also contain the 120Hz screen and will do 3D with the Nvidia 3D kit.
