The MSI Neo2 Platinum Owners Help Thread

i'd say almost definitely not enough volts. Mine did the same altho not as low as that. 1.4v is the default and for my 3200 (Win) I found that 1.4v was fine from 2.0GHz all the way up to around 2.4GHz. After that 1.5v was needed but even 1.54v is still fine really. Only 10% after all and temps are not an issue with these new cores. Hope that helps!

Xenole - Have you tried running hdtach just to see what kinda scores you get from the boot drive? If you've reverted to original settings then i would have thought the drive would be back to normal. Even with oc settings I dodn't think I've ever had slow drive issues. I'd also uninstall and reinstall the chipset drivers to be sure.

You are using the sata points next to the cpu yeah?

Using an IDE boot drive connected to the primary channel. My 2 sata drives (using the correct connections near the cpu) are fine.
Which chipset drivers?

I have no idea what I did wrong in the bios, but after a cmos reset it seems to be pretty stable at 1.4v, anyway, my chip seems to do around 2.45 on default volts, and 2.5 on 1.45v. Ill post back later with my final results.-wierd

Set AGP to 67, PCI is automatically locked :)

Got me gear setup now. :) nice , very nice i must say. Even coming from a XP-M @ 2.5Ghz / 500 FSB 1:1.

Max i got so far is 2200Mhz 1:1 coz the Vdimm is Limited to 2.85 - 2.9

Took a While to Find Some Stable timings.

3-6-3-2.0 1T = Good Low / Good High Speed
2-5-2-2.0 2T = Good Low / Poor High Speed
2-6-3-2.0 1T = Good Low / Good High Speed
2-5-3-2.0 1T = Good Low / Good High Speed

2-6-3-2.0 1T = Not Stable
2-5-2-2.0 1T = Not Stable

Anyone Got Any HyperX BH-5 in a Neo .? What Timings You using.?

Just tried those 5.10 drivers, and no difference except I lost my network connection and some icon appeared giving me the option of removing my 2 sata drivers.
Now upgraded back to before I installed those drivers.

That Remove Hardware Icon is Driving me mad.... anyone know how to remove it , apart from hiding it via hide inactive icons.... i cant figure out how.?

Kinda Like a Remove USB device icon i remeber..

I am experiancing a couple of problems with my newly installed board (939) When I boot into Windows I am getting a black screen for about 20-30 seconds then the Windows logo comes up and Windows loads! Why am I getting this black screen? I think the current BIOS is 1.4 or 1.41 I can't remember (can't use PC atm) is there a way of resolving this?

I am noticing that when I run Prime95 to test the stability of it (tested for 6 hours ;)) The temperature goes upto 58degrees, now when I touch the CPU's heatsink its stone cold! Are there any accurate temperature reading programs for the board or even a better BIOS that I need to install?

Many thanks

Hi, i Had this Board and Cpu a few days now and cpu temps report o.k

Mine came with 1.1 bios so i had to Flash for Winchester Support , that was not a problem doh as the CPU will still work even with the 1.1 bios its mainlys voltages and cpu id that the bios changes anyway.

32 - 38 idle Depending if Cool n Quiet on
43 - Full Load

Im using 1.51 Bios, Maybe you wanna give that a go.?

Whats you setup , that might help someone help you.?

Oh and CBBID 0451 are meant to be Bad ... lol 2.5ghz so far so thats not bad at all... :)

Thanks for the reply!

As I am new to this board : -

1) What program do I use to flash the BIOS
2) Where can I download the BIOS's from?

Cheers
